AC on Time LLC
Tampa FL 33615 February 10, 2023
Installation Issues by AC on Time LLC
AC on Time installed a Condenser and two Mini-Split units at my house on January 12, 2023. The installation included two plastic flexible drain hoses which were placed in a horizontal sideways position that were approximately five feet long and were attached to a ¾” PVC pipe in the outside wall for both units. Even though the system was tested & the water drained outside, there was water still in the drain lines because the drain hoses were “Kinked”.
Per the Blueridge installation manual, it stated do not kink the drain hoses, since will create water traps. In addition, the plastic drain hoses indoors were not wrapped with foam pipe to prevent condensation. I contacted Kelvin Mendoza, manager of the business about the kinks in drain hoses and his response was that I must pay him the retainage withheld final balance due of $300 before he will return, since the final HVAC inspection passed. In addition, he was going to charge me $150 additional to replace the plastic drain hoses with 3/4” rigid PVC pipes, even though the original drain hoses were not the correct installation. I said that I would pay the $300 + $150 in full, when he and his two helpers replace the kinked drain hoses.
He was persistent not to return until I paid the $300, since the HVAC final inspection passed, even though the final inspection did not even notice & inspect the kinked drain hoses. I was getting nowhere with him for next 10 days & he was charging me a Late Fee of 3% of $300 due within 10 days of final bill. I decided to go in person to his place of business & speak with him in person. His helper answered the door, and he contacted him on his cell phone. Kelvin Mendoza would not honor his one-year labor warranty for my installation, after I paid him the $300 final installation on January 26, 2023. He was loud & arrogant to me over the phone and said that I was an unprofessional person. I reminded him that I paid him a total of $3,800 for this complete HVAC installation and I had a right to insist that he return to correct the proper installation. He kept saying that I voided the labor warranty with his Company. I realized that he did not want to return, since it was about one hour from my house to correct this matter.
I also informed him that I now have an Error Code P6 on both Mini-Split Systems, which started one or two days after his installation, which means Compressor High/Low Pressure Protection. This needed to be checked out by him, since it meant that the Freon refrigerant was low and could be leaking. The units were now not working. He still would not honor the labor warranty and come back & inspect & fix the error code, because he insisted that I voided the labor warranty with his business. He refused to come back, because he would not admit that the installation was faulty as well as poor workmanship. He refused to come back to fix the Error Code.
I contacted another HVAC Contractor, who inspected both Mini-Split Systems. He informed me that the Error Code P6 was due to the leak of Freon from the System. This was due to the incorrect connection of the Flares to the Mini-Split Systems by AC on Time. They were both bent and not connected properly, which caused all the Freon to leak from the Condenser Unit. They needed to vacuum the Condenser out totally and refill with 4.8 lbs. of Freon to the Condenser unit. I had to pay them $500 to insert two new fare connections at both Mini-Split Systems and refill the Condenser with 4.8 gallons of Freon.
The Bottom line is that I do not recommend AC on Time LLC for any installation of Mini-Split Systems or any HVAC System installation, since he is extremely difficult to work with and demands payment before he will return to inspect & correct his work mistakes. In addition, he does not honor his labor warranty, after being paid in full and made excuses to me as the owner that I voided his Labor Warranty.
