Finish custom house build ( we didn't hire them - the sellers did)

Nothing but horrible things to say about this builder and I agree with all these other reviews.
    - Very poor product. Was not met to building standards and we had to re-hire professionals to finish the house.
    - Horrible communication
    - Does not pay his subcontractors
    - Unprofessional in all aspects of the building process

    Build duplex
    $284,000

I hired PHF Homes to build a custom duplex. Paperwork was signed last March. I agree very little supervision and NO contractors are ever at location. Being single and disabled you would think he would have a conscience. He has taken several vacations and he throws up his church duties. I got a email from him that had more cuss words over nothing I did. He wanted money which a construction loan was taken out so the bank was paying him. My house is still not finished and I am very frustrated at the practice of PHF Homes. I will make sure before I close everything on my punch list for is completed. Thanks for the information on your sight

    $320,000

PHF Homes owned and operated by Kelly Green built our house in 2016-2017. To say the least we are very disappointed in the quality and overall craftsmanship of our home. In the beginning Mr. Green was very attentive and gung ho about the project. We now know this is his MO. Once we signed the contract and building began he was very difficult to communicate with. His only way of communication is by text and only if you initiate it or he needs something from you. He was rarely on our jobsite (we were their everyday and his sub-contractors would tell us they had not seen him in days and sometimes weeks, he took several vacations during the building process) and as such the site was a disaster zone from start to finish. There was trash everywhere, over flowing dumpsters etc. I understand it’s a construction site but this was beyond standard practices. This was our first indication that of the total lack of quality control and supervision by Mr. Green. On several occasions Mr. Green’s lack of supervision caused delays because of mistakes by Sub-contractors, this led to rework after the fact. On several occasions the Subs complained to us about the lack of supervision and control. On many occasions we would bring this up to Mr. Green only to be talked down to very arrogantly.
As the end drew near, we had several pages of punch list items (many of which were very blatant things they just didn’t finish) that we provided Mr. Green after closing. His response was to send us a list of cost overages that at no time during the process had we been made aware of at any time during the build process. It became obvious he was trying to black mail us into paying him more money for these overages before he would fix the things on our punch list. We contacted an attorney and drafted a letter to Mr. Green. In the end we agreed not to pay the overages in exchange for the largest of punch items being fixed.
In the time we started our build we have met six other clients of Mr. Green some he built under his previous company Baywind Builders (which filed for bankruptcy and has bad reputation in the Santa Rosa County area) and some under his current company PHF homes. In one case he completely walked away from the project, in another he failed to install duct work to the outside of the home for the dryer thus causing lint to build up in wall and overheating the dryer causing damage. He would not return the persons calls forcing the person to hire another contractor to fix the problem. One individual reached out to us because they had to hire an attorney because their home is grossly over schedule and Mr. Green is demanding money for cost overages before he will finish. All of the people we have met or spoke to have similar stories and all say they wouldn’t recommend PHF homes or Kelly Green to build anything.
If you are looking for a contractor that has terrible communication skills, total lack of quality control, lack of integrity (caught him in several lies), grossly under bids the project to get your work then surprises you at the end with thousand or tens of thousands of cost overages (prominent retired local contractor did warn me of this tactic of Mr. Greens.) and last will forget you exist after you close…then by all means hire Mr. Green to build your dream.
I only wish I can save someone form the aggravation and disappointment of having to go through what we did with PHF Homes and Mr. Kelly Green
Also beware of his other company West Florida Homes (a home design business he is in
