Working with John has been one of my biggest regrets. While his workmanship was subpar, it was his unprofessional attitude and troubling behavior that truly made the experience unbearable. From the start, he reacted aggressively when we sent a simple text to clarify a previously discussed point. He accused my husband of being drunk—despite the fact that we don’t drink at all. When we raised a few legitimate questions about the work being done, he became defensive rather than constructive. After so many times of being on the other side of John's temper, we never questioned him again and just started fixing his work on our own. We drew the line when the baseboards were being installed and there was an inch gap in one of the corners that he tried to fill in with caulk and call it good.
We overlooked so many red flags early on because some friends who had worked with him in the past spoke highly of him. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. Finally, we had to let him go with unfinished work, and despite this, he demanded nearly full payment. To make matters worse, he told us to "be more christian-like," which is both insulting and unfounded due to the fact that he knew we are devout christians and he was using that tactic to force us to pay the full bill.
John’s behavior suggests a deeply narcissistic attitude, and I strongly advise anyone considering doing business with him to think twice. Trust me, it’s not worth it.
