I worked with a general contractor in my youth and have done countless projects and renovations on my own over the last 30 years of varying size and complexity so have always been skeptical about the value of a general contractor. Now, having worked with Jeff at Point Load on a major kitchen/main floor renovation, I have completely flipped by opinion. Jeff is simply the best I've worked with. Highly competent. Extremely fair in his pricing. Very communicative. Has some excellent subcontractors. Flexible if you want to take on some of the work yourself (as I did). On time or early completion on things that were within his control. Someone of high integrity you can feel very comfortable having in or around your home.
