I had been in discussions with Charleston Tiny Houses, owner Shaun Laursen, for about a month regarding building a custom tiny for me when I came across some familiar pictures on a tiny house blog. Turns out these same pictures were displayed on charlestontinyhouses.com and Shaun was claiming they were his "previous projects." I contacted the owner of the house in the pictures to see if Shaun had worked on the house and she said no. I then google searched all the images on his site and found out that multiple were stolen from other peoples houses. I called Shaun to confront him and asked about the pictures. He said that the guy he hired to design the site must have gotten his "inspiration" pictures mixed up with his build pictures. I don't buy it. He doesn't even have an "inspiration" page on his site. Also how do you miss that when proofing your website? I told him that I would need references from his previous builds if we were going to continue. He agreed and said that he would send me references later. Instead, that night I received an email from Shaun saying that he thinks he isn't "the builder for me" and that unfortunately due to the recent contracts he has signed he won't be able to build my house. So sketchy. I then when back on the website and saw he had changed his "previous projects" pictures; however, on almost every other page of the site, there are still stolen pictures with no credit to their actual builders. I wanted to post this to just warn everyone that this guy is a bit shady. If you must work with him, please ask for references.

I wouldn't even give him one star if I didn't have to. Just google Sean's name and Charleston county lawsuits. You will find all the information you need. He has multiple lawsuits and judgments against him. Has already declared bankruptcy once and I can't imagine how he has a contractors license. I personally had to have another contractor redo $70,000 of his work because it was unsafe and haven't been able to get a penny back from him or his insurance company. He also operates many different companies, most of them having port city in the name, so don't touch anything with the name Sean Laursen attached!
