Please solicit references of recent custom homes this contractor has been the general contractor for, so you understand what worked well and what could have worked better. As of this writing, our custom build is the only one in which Prairie Family Homes was the full general contractor. Although ours was a challenging build given this contractor was trying to transition from production to custom home construction and continued to believe it was a spec home, we never planned to provide any feedback but realized it was important to share a fair evaluation for others by suggesting references. We provided this neutral comment on the builder's site, which was removed, hence this post. Our hope is that this business can be successful by understanding the importance of having business credit established, documenting customer specifications for accurate bids, being onsite more for sub-contractor questions, learning from mistakes instead of blaming, and not surprising anyone with questionable charges or motives at the end. Perhaps, we've been the learning ground.

Contractor is highly skilled and knowledgeable and was able to identify architectural design issues and work with our architect to resolve. Contractor was always available to answer questions. Always had our budget and best interest in mind. Was also very accommodating with change orders. Very pleased.
