Caveat emptor! Beware of this contractor. Keith Pryer approached me as a general contractor and claimed he was capable of handling all aspects of construction. I looked around for any of his previous reviews that pertained to what I required and could not find any. However, he assured that he was up to the task and could hire professionals to cover any bases that he could not. After working with him, I found this to be very clearly untrue.

He began with minor interior work and then proceeded to delay the project to an unreasonable degree and eventually ran out of funds before obtaining all the required materials to finish the job, forcing me to cover the cost of the rest myself. He was also unable to cover the costs of renting the required tools for the job, which I was forced to pay for out of my own pocket as well.

Eventually, he demanded an extra $4,300 in order to finish the original work. Since the city permit was already obtained, he basically held the project hostage with further delays. With this money, he also stated that he would hire a professional mason to finish the required brickwork since he did not possess the knowledge or skill to do so. Instead, he pocketed the money and attempted to finish the job himself, which was obviously poorly done. The building owner even surveyed the work and demanded it to be torn down and redone.

Another example of his lack of skill and inability to follow directions is when I requested that he install a door frame in a position in which a door closer could be installed afterward. Instead, he decided to install it in the laziest way possible and it is now currently impossible to put in the door closer without ripping out the entire door frame and reinstalling it.

The last straw was when he was to install glass door panels that I had purchased. Since he ran out of funds for the proper tools to install them, he decided to cut corners and install them by hand, which ending up cracking them. Instead of paying for new ones to cover for his mistake, he installed the cracked panels as-is!

Keith Pryer also lacks any sense of organization. On the day that the city inspector was to come to the property to survey the work done, he did not bring any of the proper documentation required by the inspector, leading to an instant fail of the inspection before the inspector even began.

After 5 months of work, which was months beyond the original deadline I had set, I decided to simply make a deal with him to drop him and start with a more reputable contractor because at this point I was tired of his excuses and he was generally unpleasant to work with. I offered to release him from the remaining contracted work he had yet to complete in exchange for a small amount of compensation to cover the botched brickwork, broken glass door panels, and unfinished steps and railing. However, he responded with an offer that would not even cover the cost of the glass door panels. After replying, he did not bother to respond to any more attempts at communication.

At this point, I am preparing a lawsuit against him and his company. The last couple months have been a nightmare and I have lost a countless sum of money from the numerous delays. This man is a disgrace to reputable contractors and happily drags their name through the mud. If you are looking for a dishonest contractor to mismanage funds, delay your project beyond reason, and damage materials, Keith Pryer is the man for the job.
