I had a bathroom flood and contacted Miguel my brother-in-law to help rebuild the bathroom. It's true don't do business with family. I paid $7,500 for 38 man hours of actual work drywall/texture and some plumbing and he claims to have spent $2,000 on materials but will not provide any receipts. Mid way through we agreed this could not go on and I did not like the way I was being treated. We agreed on the work to be finished and the price. Miguel did not honor the agreement. He did not finish the job he said he would (he told his workers to walk out) and still took the money. I paid him trying to keep peace in the family and instead he took advantage. Not only that but I'm $1,800 into finishing work he was paid to do and the mistakes made by his crew. See the attached pictures. Being family I thought I had nothing to worry about. Get it all in detailed contracts not some generic bid. If you can treat family like this and try to silence them by claiming you perpetuated a fraud on your insurance you are the new low of low.
