Nightmare! Usually we are a pretty good judge of character, but Rob Reinke fooled us. We started what he told us would be a 3 to 4 month kitchen and large first floor remodel on time, but that was the last punctual piece of this NINE month long remodel. When I hired Rob, I asked him to commit to this job start to finish with no other jobs in between as we would have to live in outdoor kitchen until functional. He looked me right in the eye and shook my hand as he agreed to this commitment. He did not honor that commitment stretching our 3 month project into 9 months.
Rob and his temper tantrum laden crew showed up late, or not at all, throughout this project. There is little pride in workmanship. Every shortcut that can be taken will. Cleanup was atrocious to non-existent. At one point, I suggested they vacuum while they sand. Robs' response 'some guys do it that way'. Yeah, professionals. If you want to babysit your project, have it come in over-budget and extremely late, then you have found the right guy.
Every one of his subs and suppliers was miserable to deal with, some even bordering on criminal. The day Rob finally installed our new stove, it stuck out 2 inches and stuck up above the new counter 1-1/2 inches. I expressed my concern and let Rob know he needed to correct this. His response 'you bought the wrong stove'. Nope, I hired the wrong contractor. Rob assured me this could not be corrected and we would just have to live with it, with his infamously annoying catch phrase 'it is what it is'. Rob assured me the marble counter top would definitely break if he tried to lift it to correct this mistake. He was right, he would have definitely broken it fixing his mistake with his china in a bull shop approach to everything along with a frequent bad attitude. That left me and my very helpful brother in law spending two days cutting the marble loose from the cabinets, carefully removing it ourselves, with 4 other guys due to the weight, laying in 1-1/2" template, and replacing the marble back on top. Then I had to cut out the back of the island to correctly reinstall the stove so that it didn't stick out in the front, and shim all that out, then replace the back of the bar area to cover the sins Rob created, and finally trim out the 1-1/2" lift to hide that sin. It looks fine now, but this is the type of pride you would get from this guy and his motley crew.
In addition to the major screw up described above, Rob was unprofessional from start to finish. After tearing our house to shreds, each subsequent payment was very much like a ransom payment. He never even did a final walk through, leaving us with all the touch up and clean up, including a full truck of construction debris that I had to haul to the dump myself.
My advice, don't make the mistake of trusting this guy, do NOT let this man anywhere near your home!
