  Richard Hutton was referred to buy a long time family friend in construction. For this reason I didn’t do a back ground check on him. HUGE MISTAKE! I called Richard on or about March 8th and told him to dig the pool on April 11th. He told me he would schedule his people to build our pool. A smart Contractor would have scheduled all the subcontractors a month in advance not Richard! After our first dig, rebar installation there would be no more work done for almost 2 months. We were told lie after lie from Richard. His Excavation Contractor told my husband there were to many benches in our pool. So we decided based on his information to remove the bench in the deep so we would have more swimming room. Richard berated us like were his children! He yelled and over talked us as if he didn’t have our 21,000 down payment in his pocket. It was very clear he didn’t value or respect us. Richard is very disrespectful and divisive and will try and play a married couple against each other. He even tried to talk inappropriately to me, referring to my robe until he realized I had him on speaker phone. Then he changed his conversation. There were lots of sunny days when Richard could’ve had his crew out working towards the completion of our pool, but those days like his promises would come and go. To add insult to injury he would constantly talk about how many pools he was building. Something we didn’t believe. Our pool became a muddy mosquito breeding mess. It had to constantly get treated for insects. The rebar and some of the plumbing had to be removed and the hole had to get reshaped. Richard didn’t supervise his subcontractors work. The Excavation Contractors he used beat us out of 500.00 to spread the dirt they were suppose to haul away. Our pool is suppose to be a custom pool, Richard gave us a catalog to choose our coping and tile. After 2 weeks of deciding we sent him our choices. Richard sent a text saying the whole warehouse was out of everything accept 5 choice that he texted to us. We believe coping, tile and decking is back stock he got a deal on. We could even choose the colors we wanted with this guy! Later I saw a picture of his other client’s pool. All of the materials are the same. Today is July 29th. We’ve been waiting all week for acid wash and plaster. No one has shown up. Richard picked another 20k this past weekend after the decking was installed. He haven’t completed his job and is already asking for the balance of 10k. A total of 51K. Richard is lying trying to get more money by claims the decking is wider than we requested and he wants another 800.00. Don’t deal with this disrespectful scammer. He talks a good game and plays excessively. He blames his absence on his supposedly sick wife, but shows up for the check. This has been a horrible experience! The Summer is almost over and our pool is still not finished! Richard wants the balance of his money, and we want our pool finished first! Don’t use Richard Hutton Cost Plus Pools aka Blue Oasis and anything else he offers. You will regret it!

  I can tell you who not to use- Richard Hutton Pools and Landscaping, poor followup- smooth talker who stuck me will bills to pay for subcontractors and lied about paying me back, shoddy work- cracks in decking 3 months after pool finished. My last check to him was last time I saw him. 8 months of phone calls got only excuses and failed promises. I have saved text messages for court some day. Too bad- he seemed like nice guy at first.
