My review of Mr. Richard Orr Bowman,
Let me first start out by saying, my first impression of Mr. Bowman was kind, friendly and experienced. He was advertised in my neighborhood's monthly news binder in addition, he had an overall good rating. Therefore, I decided on giving him a try.
He came out and we went over a few of the improvements I wanted to have done to my residence. He threw out a few quotes, I accepted, and we were scheduled to move forward. Some time had passed in between, I reached out to Mr. Bowman for a follow up and after a few days, Mr. Bowman responded, explaining that he had come down with a serious illness, that he needed some time to recover. I completely understood. He said he would follow up with me the following week. I heard nothing, after reaching back out to him, he did respond stating that his illness had taken a turn for the worse.
That he was going to need some additional time in order to completely recover. After a couple of weeks, he was slowly getting back into the work force. There was no pressure involved on my part, I told Mr. Bowman, to take whatever time he needed in order to recover and to get back to me when he felt strong enough to continue.
He again, gave me a timeline of 1 to 2 weeks, sure thing, no problem. Again, no follow up was done as promised. I reached out to him asking for a status update, after a few days, he explained that he was slowly getting back into the work force, that he had a scheduled a trip, and would be out of town for an ex-number of days.
My response again was, no problem, once he returned, he did a follow up with me by text, explaining that he was back and currently working on a job, that he would be able to resume moving forward in a few days. Again, no problem.
He came out to my residence on his second trip to finalize everything with me regarding my home's improvements. I agreed to all his estimates, at that time, he advised me that he was the only one working, that he had a few other jobs he was working on and should be able to start his work on my place in a few weeks.
Mr. Bowman advised me that he was going to be starting on a large painting job, both interior and exterior. That he was only one guy, and that he would do his best on trying to work me into his schedule.
I agreed. Ample time had passed, no communication, none. It was only after several attempts in reaching out to Mr. Bowman, did he finally get back in touch with me. And his response was more of the same, that he was currently very busy working on a job, that he had yet another trip scheduled out of town and would be back the following week. There was no idea given on when or even if he would be able to do the work as promised.
At this point, I was exhausted on trying. I made several attempts, trying to be fair with this guy, I left him several messages of understanding, with the willingness to work with him, and yet, he just kept kicking the can further down the road with one excuse after the next.
This isn't how a reputable businessman should be doing business. After my last few attempts in reaching out to Mr. Bowman, all communication abruptly stopped.
I very much felt disappointed and let down.
My advice to Mr. Bowman, do a better job at communicating, by following up and following through with good work ethic and respect to the very people who keep you in business. There's only so much one person can do, perhaps better scheduling and timelines when it comes to taking on new jobs might be in order.
I'm sure you would appreciate and welcome a good review opposed to one that poses less favor.
Regards...
