After reviewing Mr. Vilardi’s 5 star reviews on Home Advisor and the BBB, I hired him 10/26 for my bathroom remodel,to start 10/30. The contract was for $6000, $1000 down, with the understanding the rest when completed. 10/30, the day he started, he asked for $1000 because he was broke. 11/5 he asked for $2000 because he had to buy “supplies”. I bought and picked up my tile, grout, sink, light fixtures and bidet and carried into my home. Either my son or I, carried the majority of the tile and bidet upstairs. In 5 days, I was $4000 into the remodel. 11/13 he asked for another $1000 to buy supplies for another project he had underestimated. It was agreed no more money until job finished. 11/21 he asked for $700 because he was broke again! He later added an additional $1000 to the job, but refused to give me an itemized bill. I am very disappointed with his work. The grouting is sloppy, clumped in corners, several areas were missed, had to be regrouted, didn’t clean the tile after grouting. I wanted the glass block window grouted to match the rest of the tile around the window, and he flat out refused, stating it wouldn’t stick. It’s adhering very well on the original grouting and cannot be removed. He basically worked backward, what he should have been last, he did first. He installed the light fixture and medicine cabinet first, instead of last, so they had to be removed several times to correct his mistakes and plaster the wall. Instead of installing schlutter all the way on top of the tile, he only covered half, because the medicine cabinet was installed over the tile He installed and grouted a cracked glass tile and I had to insist he replace it. A new tub faucet was installed and leaked when the lever was lifted for the shower. He told me it was water pressure and he would install a pressure valve. Delta sent an unneeded replacement. His HELPER noticed a clump of solder was preventing sealing. No problem now. There is now a dent and hole in the tub where something had been apparently dropped during tile installation. The shower head has a stain on it and the cap is not attached to the wall. The whole pipe is loose and possibly leaking behind the wall. He glued the sink to the wall, instead of using the supplied bolts. The tub faucet has a gap between it and the tile. He moved an outlet that i did not request moved and it is now loose. I told him at the beginning I needed an outlet near the floor for the bidet. It is written in the contract “electric toilet”, because Mr. Vilardi didn’t know how to spell bidet. Instead of or looking at the bidet specifications, he placed the outlet 16” above the floor. The tank now covers the top outlet, so only the lower outlet is usable. Not code, the bidet will need removed, tile broken and replaced, outlet replaced. As a contractor for “50 years” he should have known. My $1500 bidet seat now has long scratches from apparent cleanup from the wall repair that should have been done at the beginning, before tile placement. Mr. Vilardi was rude, arrogant, condescending and, at times, irate when I questioned his work, asked him to fix his mistakes, and questioned his requests for money before the bathroom was done. i am heartbroken and deeply disappointed after spending months looking at tile, bathroom ideas, shopping, comparing, and ordering matching fixtures. He will not be coming into my home to fix his substandard work. Now my concerns are what I can’t see his work behind the walls. It is also costing me $1000-2000 to repair his sloppy, substandard work by another contractor.

We hired Mr. Villardi in Oct 2018 to remodel our son’s master bathroom. My husband and son had demo’ed the bathroom, and we provided all of the fixtures. Mr Vilardi provided the tile and grout, and a new window. His bid was $10,000, $15,000 less than our lowest bid. He said it would take approxiately 2 months. He had to move plumbing for the new location of the toilet and shower and new tub. We put 4K down. He started on time, however, he would only work 2-4 hours. And didn’t show up every day. He said he had another job site. We experienced the same thing as the other poster. He would continually ask for draws because he was broke or needed to pay his helper. Some days he showed up appearing to be under the influence. Then he became ill and his helper had to finish the job. So we paid the helper when the job was done. The job was finally finished in March 2019 and ended up costing us $22,000. And he still claimed we owed him 2500. We ended up paying that 2500 directly to the glass contractor for the shower door.
We will never use him again nor reccommend him to anyone.
