Rod Watkins began constructing a new deck on August 19, 2012 and I fired him on August 23, 2012. The support posts were encased in concrete (code violation), the support beams were bolted to the outside of the post (code violation), and the joists spacing did not meet the composite deck manufacturers requirements. The posts were encased in only 12 to 30 inches of concrete. I was able to push one of them over and a second to a 45 degree angle with little to no effort. Please note that the deck is up to 8 feet off the ground. The framing and posts had to be removed because of his extremely poor and dangerous workmanship. His approach to correcting the numerous city code violations were just further examples of his poor work and I was left with no choice but to fire him. In addition, his bid clearly stated that his company is endorsed by the BBB, which is simply not true.
