  Hello everyone, watch out for this guy, Lolo, mobile number +1 925-765-1195, name on bank account "Ilaisaane Kauvaka" for pavers work, company name 'S M P CONCRETE_CONSTRUCTION'. RED FLAG!!!
  Started work for me in late November'22, worked for 2 days, negligible work completed, took almost 9% project cost deposit and never returned back to complete the work. When I asked for refund of extra money, his message to me was "I'm not paying you a dime good luck". I strongly suggest not to give any work, or give at your own peril.
  He kept on asking for nearly 30% of cost on day 1 and wasn't willing to provide any receipt. Hence I settled at ~9%.
  Please don't beat me why I did it. Mistakes happen.
  Here are the timelines if interested in reading more:
  1. Started demo work on 22nd November with 3 guys. Asked for ~30% of project cost. When I asked receipt/ contract, any document, kept on saying you have to trust me. Won't go anywhere. Ask others who referred me, I took even more money from them and completed their project. Even used words like 'ridiculous' when I said this doesn't make sense to me. I had to ask him literally, let's be respectful to each other.
  2. Day 2 - 23rd November, started with 3 guys, then suddenly after lunch, took away 2 guys and then evening 3rd guy also went, leaving plenty of debris on my newly laid sod, my drive way with all mud and all the rest of the debris on my front yard.
  3. Day 3... Took thanksgiving break (Thu-Sun).
  4. Monday (28th Nov) - says due to some family emergency, needs to travel out of country, work will be resumed on Dec 6.
  5. On Dec 6, says he is delayed and work will resume on Dec 12. Visits on Dec 12, tells me, he needs more time due to family situation and work will start on 19th Dec.
  6. On Dec 19th, says, he has fallen sick, so can't start work. Finally says he will start on Jan 4th and will work even if it is light drizzle.
  Never appears back. Rarely responded to text messages/ calls.
  I kept on asking, at least send someone for an hour or two to clear up path for water to get out in this storm. Didn't bother any bit at all.

  Concrete + Landscaping

  I signed a contract with Sione Pongia who is the owner of SMP Concrete to get some concrete and landscaping work done at my home in Pleasanton on Jan 9th 2016. Gave him half the contracted amount. Since then he and a helper came to work for 3 days ... removed a small lawn that had dried up (900 sq feet) and started work on 2 small concrete benches (each 8' long). He left the concrete work half finished; his helper dug up the yard in places that did not need to be dug, and broke drainage and irrigation pipes. He finally came on Feb 10 and finished the work on the 2 concrete benches - a month after the contract was signed. I had to threaten him with reporting to the CA licensing bureau before he finally showed up. The concrete work is of ok quality. However, Sione is poor in communication and just does not respond to emails / messages / phone calls. I asked him to not do the other part of the contract - the landscaping work, and just complete the concrete work since I had no confidence that this would be completed any time soon. In addition his helper was extremely careless - when he broke a number of drainage and irrigation pipes he did not keep track of these, and worse figuratively and literally covered some of these up! I was left to deal with these problems. Created a major head-ache for me. Would not hire him again.
