  Mr. Burgess failed to complete our home within the contracted time period and was eventually removed from the permit by order of the county building official. His failure to pay vendors and contractors resulted in significant delays, which ultimately resulted in the project sitting unattended for weeks at a time. He never completed the list of action items given by the county official, and many of the items completed were done in such a poor manner that the work had to be done over by the replacement contractor.
  Though he professes to offer weekly progress meetings, on-site walk-throughs and client approvals on his website, we did not find this to be the case at all. We had great difficulty getting Mr. Burgess to respond to our phone calls or e-mails, and on-site walk through meetings stopped after a month or two. We had several instances where work was done without our prior approval and this ended up costing us thousands of dollars in tear-outs and re-builds later.
  I would not recommend this builder under any circumstance.

  Our house remains unfinished. Subpar material was used for extensive wrap around porch. I notified contractor and his lawyer of this in the spring of 2012. There has been no effort to replace or repair. Lengthy punch list items created in August 2013 have not been started. I did decline the painters' services as this was a very minor job. No other efforts have been made to complete this list. He was not present for several of the county's home inspections especially near the end. Many of these inspections failed because of items that the contractor didn't do or should have known to do and didn't. He rarely stopped by the house the last few months of construction to assess quality and progress. The finish date was documented as May 2012. My husband and I took charge of all services and coordination and performed a lot of labor the last few weeks in order to finish the house. He has signed a legal document created by his lawyer agreeing that we paid our agreed-upon contract dollar amount. He owes several subcontractors and suppliers money in the thousands. We have paid an additional $15 thousand dollars plus to avoid and settle at least 2 liens. We know of three other homeowners that have gone through similar nightmares. All of us have hired lawyers.
