    My wife and I had planned a second story addition on our nearly-historic house, and were looking for the RIGHT contractor. We met with several, some with bids that seemed too good to be true; then we met Chuck Saxton. Chuck stood out immediately. He has over 40-years construction experience, is insightful, personable, and is a man of integrity. Chuck took the time to get to know us and our project, and by the end of our initial meeting we knew we had found the RIGHT contractor.
    Chuck is not a house flipper; he's a craftsman. He builds and remodels HOMES. And he cares about his work. To me, "pop top" is an ugly term that means quick and dirty, and takes minimal effort. Chuck sits up at night and THINKS about his projects, visualizing them start to finish and figuring out how to make them better. Using years of industry knowledge, Chuck pointed out several potential problems in our plans, and worked with our architect to resolve them - before work began. None of the others who had met with us had noticed or pointed out these issues; they just wanted to get done and get paid.
    Chuck's bid was slightly higher than our low bidder, but there were no surprise fees or upcharges, and, in the end, he charged us what he said he would. Chuck also ads value. We were unhappy with work done by one of the subcontractors, so Chuck hired a new subcontractor and had the work done over - at no charge to us. Best of all, the finished product is more than we had expected.
    The remodel process is an extremely personal one, and your contractor will be intimately enmeshed in your life, for months. If you shop by price, alone, you pay for it in the end. Find a contractor that you can trust, who understands the myriad options available, and who treats you like a friend. For us, that person was Chuck Saxton. Ask him for my contact details.
