We hired Sully McGrath, owner of Mitchell Development, for our kitchen remodel. He pulled a permit under his SJM Construction license but ran all payments and materials through his wife’s company, Luxury Kitchens.
It was a complete disaster. He pulled the wrong permit, then closed up our kitchen without inspection. Everything he touched failed inspection and had to be redone.
We paid them over $120,000, and then had to spend another $80,000 to repair and finish our kitchen. We filed a complaint with the CSLB, prevailed in arbitration, and after 15 months finally recovered funds from him and his bond.
Do your homework before hiring them—there are plenty of red flags.
