We hired Skarin Custom Homes to build our home to our regret. In our opinion:
There were substantial defects in the Skarin’s work that require repairs and corrections. Unfortunately, these issues will cost us thousands of additional dollars in remedial work. Skarin claims to have no obligation to address our workmanship issues outside of city code violations. The Skarin contract severely limits his warranty on his work.
Skarin did not appropriately budget the project. There were several instances where unforeseen expenses arose, and it became evident that the initial estimate provided by Skarin did not adequately account for overall project costs. Also, Skarin omitted significant work described in our architect’s plan without telling us.
Throughout the project, I found Jim Skarin both abrasive and uncooperative.
In our opinion, Skarin’s work was substantially deficient in his communication, budgeting accuracy, project execution, and quality.
