  New Home Construction

  In August,2018 after getting quotations from other contractors, we contracted with Steve Cronan to build our new home. The entire project lasted approximately 9 Months. During this time we had numerous meetings, planning discussions, revising House Plans to fit the property and Selecting Sub-Contractors. We had numerous weather, delays to deal with during the wettest season I have seen in years.
  During this time we met frequently, sometimes daily and communicated by phone or text whenever needed. During the entire project I never had to wait more than a few minutes for a return call or text or a meeting when needed. Our meetings were always beneficial with good action plans resulting.
  When the Sub Contractors invoices were received inspections were carried out and invoices were paid also a release of lien was signed by each subcontractor.

  I am pleased to recommend Steve Cronan to anyone building a home in Pickens, Dawson, Cherokee Counties and surrounding area who wants a hard working, honest, contractor who will look out for the owners interest and build a quality home for a reasonable price.
  Steve's strong points are scheduling contractors and follow up on every detail to keep the job on schedule. He has very good knowledge of building practices, code requirements, permitting procedures, and contacts for sub-contractors. He has a good knowledge and experience in home building which only comes from doing it.

  We have been in our new home for about 3 months with no problems and are enjoying trouble free living and expect this to continue for years to come.

  Home Build

  To many items to list...nepotism.....subs seem to all be related (or friends)or connected and the quoted amount to complete our build was a total joke as some items were several hundred percent over....references were good but now I question if they to were related and/or friends....I wish someone would have warned us so this is why we post this. This is his second go at building as he got out and could not make it after crash around 2007 but now that building boom back, he is attempting to do it again. Did items without consulting us when there were a choice, not informing us of huge(or any)overages, just sent bill without any warning. One time requesting the bill(3x more than quote) be in 4 separate payments(hmmm). Poor communication and/or no communication(even after multiple meetings asking to please communicate with us before doing something which costs more or if there is a choice). On top of that multiple times on phone was spoken to like I was a dog. No customer relations skill as never should a customer be spoken to as I was. Very nasty. We have never paid someone so much (even so much over quote) and been spoken to like that. So many other items in which we were taken advantage of that it is to many to list. Left us a total mess at build site with items not completed( house open to bugs and other animals) (items paid for but not completed), string out work. Did not seem to care about our job, heart not into it, never seemed to want to be here and we should have never hired him but first time we saw he did not want to be here we should have fired him. Better late than never because at the rate his was taking advantage of us we would have not had enough money to finish job. You have been warned. We had no reviews online to see, he has no website, etc. NEVER hire a builder who has no website, even an old website. Big RED flag. We trusted him, another big mistake. Just go with someone else. Now having to get attorney to be sure we get lien releases from everyone and done properly. He wants payment and has not provided even a view of lien releases so an attorney can help us get them properly done and at same time he can get his final payment. We want clean split and never want to see or hear from this horrible builder and building experience. This is my 3rd home I have built and the absolute WORST experience of all 3. Never had to fire other builders. So much over budget and his quote and over time promised, no communications, no notice of cost over runs and so MUCH more.. Builders are supposed to do whatever they can to stay on budget and on time, neither which he cared anything about.
