    Basement Finish
    $7,500

My Wife had found Steve Martin through Craigslist in the Minneapolis area. Steve had agreed to come out to the house to measure and determine the total job needed. After seeing the entire downstairs was framed in and sheetrocked other than the family room portion of the basement Steve agreed to finish off the downstairs bathroom, finish the downstairs office, sheetrock the ceiling and then tape and mud and paint. He asked for $1500 down for materials. He had convinced my wife that the basement bathroom would have more value if it was a full bath versus a 3/4 bath with only a shower. She agreed which added to the complete job. Steve returned 2 weeks later with a jackhammer and tore up the cement floor in the bathroom in order to expose the drain pipes. He tore down a wall between the bathroom and the office and created a 3 foot wide by 8 foot long hole in the floor. He then became very busy and did not return for three weeks. When I called him he gave me many excuses about being busy at other jobs and needing to plow snow. He then contacted my wife and said he needed to stop by and pick up another $1500 for pvc pipes. She provided him a check and he then dissappeared. I am left with no materials on site, a large hole in my cement in the basement floor, possibility of Radon concerns because of the hole, and an estimate of $8500 to fix what he destroyed. Lawsuit is pending. Do not use Steve Martin!

    build a deck
    $2000 in the hole
    Absolute scam

Absolute Scam. Steve came and measured out our proposed deck and the supplies needed. He then moved the promise date back a week from June 2nd, 2014 to June9th, 2014. He then went to Menards and put in a order of lumber and supplies for us to order and have delivered on June 12th. We have had the lumber in our driveway since, it is getting warped and ruined. Steve has made several excuses for why the date keeps getting pushed back. He has since stated that he has a permit from the City of Lakeville and blueprints submitted. None of this is true. He has told us that he was doing us a favor by saying he will do our deck and has gone completely silent for over a week now. I am going to have to have the lumber and supplies returned to Menards at a substantial loss due to destroyed product and a substantial restocking fee. Check other options before getting lied to here.
