By Amanda M.August 19, 2025A/C Repair$2,600
On 8/13/25, Summit Heating & Cooling replaced my A/C compressor and added refrigerant under an American Home Shield warranty claim. The next day, the system failed again. A second licensed HVAC company informed me that the issue was a failed capacitor and confirmed that Summit failed to properly flush the required valve during the compressor replacement. This contaminated the Freon and rendered the repair defective, forcing me to pay $2,600 for corrective repairs.
Summit also attempted to charge me $1,385 (above the previously agreed-upon $1,330 as documented in the AHS portal), despite their work being defective. During the process, Bryan was unprofessional and cursed at me over the phone.

We have been without air since July 28th. We have called countless times and left messages and the only time they answer it when American Home Shield calls, if that. We have an elderly, a 9 month old and a service dog in training in that house in San Antonio with the heat over 95 outside and they drag their feet. This young guy comes with some old man sleeping in his truck, hops out, truck still running and takes 10 minutes to diagnose and claims it is the fan motor. The compressor does not turn on. He claims to have checked the capacitor as well. Here we are August 4th and all they say is that they will call us to schedule a time to come with the part they supposedly have now. I have never had an issue with American Home Shield before and the last people they sent out for my AC service were amazing. I do not know where the hell they found these idiots. I have two people now with heat related illnesses. The part needed could have been purchased at a certified dealer store right here in San Antonio. How this mom and pop is still in business is beyond me. They have an 830 number but rings to a 210 number. Run far away from these people. I am still trying to get my AC on. We were forced to have them. Again we asked American Home Shield to switch contractors a dozen times and they circumvented their answer. We are getting rid of them to.

This company was sent out by American Home Shield for warranty work. As yhe others have stated below, this company is horrible. They never return calls. They dont communicate. They don't have a clue what they are doing. They made the claim my a/c had been modified so that American Home Shield would deny me, and that simply just isn't true. How companies like this are even in business is beyond me.

If I could give them a zero star I would! Again they were the only recommended vendor for AC unit. It has been almost a week and we have no air. They only go to our city when it's worth it for them. Then we're told by the guy that finally came out after I left over a dozen messages, texts and emails that the blower motor blew out because of a cockroach!! . I found another company to come out for $200 cheaper of what I was quoted with these idiots and I never told that company I had somebody else out and he asked if somebody had messed with the wiring. That really makes me mad. This company should not be in business and it's probably the only reason why they get any kind of business whatsoever is because they are hooked up with American Home shield warranty.

I would not recommend this company. They were sent to us American Home Shield. The $100 payment I had to pay up front got us nothing. Spoke to another A/c company after her left, which is a good, trusted friend of ours and were told most of what we were told by Summit was untrue. Simply trying to make a sale that was not needed. Real disappointment. I will never use them again.

This was the company that American Home Shield required us to use for our warranty service on our home central AC. The employee spent an hour trying to get us to order a new bigger system through his company on the side after assuring the covered repair would be no big deal to repair under the warranty. Then when we filed his report with AHS, they refused to do any work on our system because the Summit Heating and Cooling employee incorrectly stated our system was too small for the job. In fact, we have three central air units in our 3,000 sf home, and the one that is not cooling properly is a 3.5 ton unit, plenty of strength for the 1/3 of the house it cools. I think they are in some kind of racket together, collecting the $100 service charge while AHS later denies service. Not using this company or AHS any longer.

OMG! Summit Heating and Cooling, LLC 26807 Ih 10 W, Boerne, TX (Owned by: Burt, Bryan)
Before I share how horrible, incompetent, and unprofessional this company is, “Warning, Do Not Use!” We have been without AC for 3 weeks! American Home Shield referred them, and it took them nearly a week to text us, not call, but texted. By the way—-dont bother calling them because they never answer the phone. A week and half later, on the scheduled date, a technician by the name of Guillermo texted my wife, texted my wife, not called, and when she didn’t text him back within 5 minutes, he marked us down as a no- answer and crossed us off the list. We then called him and again, no answer! But wait! *cue infomercial voice* There’s more! Sound familiar? We then called the main number, no answer! About an hour later, they texted and said they will send a tech the next day. The tech came and diagnosed the problem as some rare phenomenon that he only has seen it twice in his career. The AC unit is only 2 years old. Lucky us, right? A week later, no update,so we called them—no answer! Sounds like a broken record right? About an hour later, someone texted us and said, “they were busy, leave a text message!” We then called AHS to complain and AMS will refund us the service fee and referred a different contractor. So, again, we have to wait without AC for 3 weeks! DO NOT USE SUMMIT HEATING & COOLING LLC if you want to burn up like a grasshopper on a hot grill!
