SunSmart roofing (illegal immigrants?) crew spoke/read no English, hid their face when taking pictures, were driven in unmarked white truck. No "foreman" or "supervisor" or "team leader" ever introduced themselves or discussed anything about my roof--I was there both days of project. Worried about what I was seeing, I contacted the salesman by phone and he was very defensive about the crew's work quality and their errors (cut holes into my roof area that had spray foam insulation [I told the salesperson about this well before installation]; he blamed the error on the supply delivery people-WTF!?). Salesperson worked with the crew's 'handler' to translate issues to their crew; they did manage to get the right design (that was in the [unread] permit package) after I had to get on the roof and direct the project: through the salesperson; through the handler; through the hander’s wife (who was the "declared team leader” on site, but she didn’t speak a word of English); to the worker who grumpily did what was asked albeit rushed and sloppy—WEIRD! I had to do clean up the next day because they refused to return another day. SunSmart licensed roofing contractor ignored my requests to personally inspect the roof, even though he signed county building inspection affidavit saying he personally inspected the roof deck (he never showed up, and he certainly didn't have a qualified "foreman" or "supervisor" or "team leader" there). SunSmart totally destroyed all my rain gutters (+$2K to replace). SunSmart crew missed an existing major pre-existing ridge ventilation flaw that caused rot of the roof deck plywood [they could have added another $5-7K to the project to fix] -- instead SunSmart just covered over it, and never brought it to my attention. In short...Disaster!
