Please be *very* weary about engaging Daniel Ewald. It's been a disaster and nightmare. As relatively new homeowners doing a remodel for the first time, we want others to learn from our mistake.
In August 2019, we entered into a contract with Daniel for schematic designs, design development and construction documents for a home renovation (including the applications for building permits). After working together on the design, we commenced the permit application (or so we thought). For over a year, Daniel left us with the belief that the permit was working its way through the permitting process (he even offered to pay a third party expediter), all after we paid him the entire contractual amount. Daniel subsequently went dark and did not respond to any attempts to reach him. He has abandoned the project. After hiring an expediter on our own, they determined that Daniel *never* filed the primary permit application.
We've never filed a review on Yelp before, but wanted to warn others. His conduct is beyond just unprofessional. After more than 2 years, he hasn't delivered a significant portion of the promised work, leaving us in a position of having to start all over with a new architect.
We genuinely hope Daniel is okay, but have heard through mutual contacts that he's still working and taking customers. Please take this into consideration so you don't end up in our position
