The most recent review of Tasso states these reviews aren't coming from buyers... well I'm a buyer. And I have nothing good to say about my experience. To start our process we arrived at our appointment to choose finishes and were told by that person we really didn't have a choice because most things (including cabinets) had already been chosen. We scoured our contract because we bought a new home SO we could pick these things and we found a statement that said we could choose unless they'd already been chosen. But we were never informed anything had been chosen and they tried to say that didn't matter. We told them we'd be terminating our contract and they immediately changed their mind and allowed us to choose our finishes.
We were never allowed to see the home as it was being built. Not even to make sure certain changes were being carried out (i.e. We chose to remove a fireplace completely.) When we did our "Blue Tape Walk Through" the backsplash wasn't anywhere near what we'd chosen and I was guilted into conceding my chosen grout color for when it was changed out, there were tons of ridiculous mistakes like handprints dried into painted windowsills, uncovered light fixtures, etc. We taped it all and were assured nothing would be left unfixed.
We had a unique situation and signed before it was all fixed and approved the closing (while out of town) after being sent photos of the replaced backsplash in the kitchen and being assured all the other "small things" were done.
We were then sent photos of our house by a family member 4 days after closing and it was still being worked on! No one had told us or asked if that was ok. When I reached out asking why, I was told they weren't in the house, but touch up painting on the exterior. Obviously I had photo proof otherwise, so I was upset.
When we arrived to get out keys from the lockbox and begin the move in process, we were shocked. All the blue tape items were still there and the tape had just been removed (we took photos as we were taping). There was a giant, unfinished patched over a foot in diameter above a bathroom mirror, a ladder in the master bedroom, a hole the size of a pea all the way through the bath tub, and numerous spots that had not been textured after being patched. It's clear they painted the trim after it was on the walls because there's paint splatter on the floor EVERYWHERE and I removed tape where they just hadn't. The list goes on. But when we called to find out what was happening, the project manager was abbrasive and was furious that I was "Saying he didn't do his job" and swore he "walked it all and it looked wonderful". Then I sent him pictures. He changed his tone fast, but at that point we didn't trust him or the company. He told us the crew who did our house had never built one before and had since been fired. Except they were still working on the house behind ours and actually came over and asked us why we were in our house when it wasn't finished yet! In order for them to fix stuff, he wanted us to move in and have his guys come in and sand and paint around us and our pets. No way was I willing to let them get all my furniture dirty and fill my house with dust. We chose to deal with the small stuff ourselves. The hole in the tub and a few larger things did get done though. But two days in a row we had crews show up to try and work on our house and we had to turn them away.
Fast forward 2 months... 7pm at night on a weeknight someone knocks on our door and says he's here to plant our trees. We call the project manager and are told for the very first time that all the lovely parking in front of our house that we were counting on was actually supposed to have trees and the county was coming to make sure so WE weren't fined! He then told us after the check, we could remove them. I called the county and guess what? We can't remove them. They aren't ours. But we ARE responsible for them if they're taken out or die. Why would that not be told to us while we were talking about the parking? Never found any sign of it in our contract either, because it wasn't there. It was a deal between the builder and the county. Bottom line, we should've been informed.
Since day 1 our lot has pooled water everywhere with even the slightest bit of rain. We got 2 inspections from other companies and it needs to be re-graded and have better drainage. Even this summer when our neighbors (a rental that the builder owns) use their sprinkler system, it drains into our yard and stays for a long time.
So as you can see, THIS buyer, not neighbor, is definitely not happy. If you'd like to hear from my neighbors, they'll tell you they hate them. The spent the first few months repeatedly telling us before they stopped acting like we personally dictated their decisions.
They didn't bend over backwards to make us happy, quite the opposite. They were rude and acted like we were wrong. We bought a new house and it didn't look new and that's a big deal. -

It seems to me that all of these reviews are with neighbors not the buyers, Tasso homes are all green certified through Earth advantage, It is the typical NIMBY syndrome, I have never seen them take advantage of anyone to be exact they have always bent over backwards for the home owner, They use the best materials and always allow the buyer to upgrade materials if needed, this sounds to me like it is a couple typical Portland neighbors who don't like new construction, Tasso always will provide any one with a list of buyers for potential buyers to review, And no I am not a employee

This man knows nothing of the 'Golden Rule". His associates told me they would take five feet of my property in order to build on a tiny lot in a slide zone. Know moral code. I would avoid this one. I agree with Dustin. This man has no respect for others.

No respect for the neighborhood or surrounding properties. These bottom feeders go door-to-door preying in the elderly in our community and talk them into selling their homes for rock-bottom prices. They drive their dump trucks around blind corners at 25 mph and when asked to slow down for kids waiting for the bus (as we have no sidewalks and the streets here are only 13" wide), they yell at us that they are obeying the law, so go away! So far they have dropped about 10 trees and have built two monolithic plastic and cardboard homes in about 45 days and apparently they are getting ready to do more. I'd be really surprised if there was even plywood under the roofing shingles. I'm contacting other developers to show my neighbors that it CAN be done with care and respect, not to mention beauty. It makes me sick that these homes are going to be falling apart in 10 years - if they make it that far. The other homes in this neighborhood are old and they were built with care and craftsmanship.

Worst builder I've ever dealt with. An absolute unapologetic, megalomaniacal developer with the 'slap em up and get the heck out' mentality. There is no sign of passion or quality in his builds, sacrificing all for speed and profit.
Brian McMillen (owner) is the worst person I've had to deal with on the phone. He has no respect for surrounding properties, literally answering my requests to not block my driveway, steal my water, or deposit nails across my parking area with threats and complete dismissal. His contractors will all vouch for Brian's miserable attitude....even Tasso employees bad mouth him!
I've watched the quality of his build and it reflects all the problems of new construction: poor materials and poor craftsmanship. But hey, you can just throw some stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops and it's all good, right?

I never write letters pro or con, but in this instance I just had to. I purchased a new vintage home in 2011. This builder said that I had a year where he would fix things. And he did! Everything got taken care of which made the next 8 years of ownership really beautiful and trouble free. Now I'm selling this home and the inspector discovered a small leak under the house where a sewer pipe became loose ($650 to repair). I called this builder thinking maybe he can advise me. Guess what? He took care of it with a smile and absolutely free after 8 big years! He didn't have to do that but he has integrity. Recommend - Yes Highly!
