Jay, Philip Michael
Member (Limited Liability Company)
First things first, Philip is a scammer. If I could rate him a zero I would. I hired Philip Jay through Angies list to paint my kitchen and bathroom cabinet's all white. He said he would charge me $4,400 to do it. On Friday Sept, 27th a worker of his came to remove all my cabinets and drawers and applied the painters tape and plastic. He then took the cabinets and drawers to his property to paint them. The next day, on Saturday, Philip came and got started on putting the primer without sanding anything down. As he was spraying the primer paint he got the paint on my refrigerator, my hardwood floor and my dishwasher. Which he said would come off and that he would clean up after. I also noticed that the primer paint was dripping all over and was not done right at all (I have pictures to prove it). When I told him about why it looked that way, he stated that he would fix it later. After he finished he asked for a thousand dollars up front and so I paid him. An hour later he came back to get started on painting the cabinets since he needed to let the primer dry, he states that it wasn’t dry enough for him to start painting so he would come the next day on Sunday. On Sunday, the 29th, I told him I was home and at 11:01am he stated he was on his way shortly. At 11:51am he then texted again saying he was running severely behind and that his cat had knocked over my cabinets and that he would have to fix and repair them. Very unprofessional. I told him that he could come on Monday the 30th from 9am-3pm. On Monday at 10:56 I texted him asking where he was and he said he wouldn’t be able to make it on that day so we scheduled for him to come Tuesday, Oct 1st. I messaged him again asking for a receipt that I paid him the thousand dollars and he said he would bring the receipts the next day on Tuesday. So Tuesday morning at 8:51am he texted me saying he is running late and gave me an excuse that his employee Jason died in a car crash. I didn’t believe him since he had been flaking on me before so I started getting impatient and asked him for a specific time he would be able to come and finish the job if not, then he needed to bring me back my stuff since he wasn’t able to work on it anyway since his friend passed away.. he responds with “ill be happy to bring your stuff back and get my final payment if thats how you want to do things.” We keep going back and forth but he stopped answering. On Thursday October 3rd at 5:45pm I texted Philip asking what time he would be arriving on Friday. He responds between 8-9. He also states that the doors and drawers look great and that I would be pleased with the final product. It is now Friday the 4th and this is where everything went down bad. He came up with my cabinets and drawers and showed me and my daughter. When I tell you this was the worst paint job I have ever seen, I am not exaggerating. The cabinet doors were all chipped and had excess paint coming down on almost all the cabinets. The drawers also had paint chipped in the front. We were not happy at all with how everything was done. He is in my house and we tell him that he did a bad job and if thats they way hes going to leave them he needs to leave it the way it is but I would not pay him for the rest. At this point my daughter is recording for our safety. Once he hears that we were not wanting to pay him the rest of the money for the horrible job he did he starts to get loud and starts threatening us that he would be a lean on my home. Mind you NO CONTRACT was made between me and Philip. He then says pay him at least the “$400” that he used to buy the paint (which we found his receipt was only for $203.68) my daughter tells me to just pay him the $400 so he can leave. Once he hears that we were willing to do that he starts to get loud and demanding we pay him more but my daughter told him to take the $400 and leave or else we would be calling the cops. He gets quiet after that and leaves me my cabinet's and drawers and takes off with the $400. I found that he had not given me all my hinges back so I couldn’t put my cabinets back on. On Oct 7th, i texted him to give me all my hinges back and he tried to scam me again by saying if I pay him a thousand dollars he would look for the hinges. In the same text he also calls my daughter the B word. This guy is crazy. I eventually had to pay $186 to buy all the hinges. And I know this is a really long review but this guy should have his LLC taken away. He scammed me and had the audacity to say that I was scamming him!? He is not a painter and he should never claim to be one. He is a handyman maybe not even that but he should have never taken this job.
