If you are going to hire this company, don't pay any money up front. I signed the estimate provided by Kress Childs of Texas Master Roofing, on 9/6/17, and gave him a deposit. This was for a complete asphalt shingle re-roof of my home. To this date, I have never been given a firm start date. I was initially told my project would start around 9/26/17 due to other projects, ahead of mine, that he needed to complete. That week was not a good weather week, so I wasn’t surprised that the project wasn’t started. Since then. I have attempted to call, text and email in order to get a firm start date. Phone calls and text messages have never been responded to. I have received hit or miss email responses providing vague time frames for when the project might start and eventually one describing supplier and email issues. I was also told, via email, on 10/24/17 “Please hang in just a couple more days.” and that he would call me in the morning with his team lead. That call never came and I have never heard from Kress to this day.
The last straw for me was when I read recently posted negative reviews on HomeAdvisor and Google. I have no trust or confidence in Kress Childs of Texas Master Roofing, that he will provide a quality product, and have requested that he promptly return my deposit. I will most likely have to pursue legal action to recover my deposit. If you are going to have this company do any work for you, I suggest, in order to protect yourself, you request that he provide up-to-date copies of his Workers Comp. and Liability Insurance Certificates as well as check his Business License to make sure he’s registered to do work in your area. Also, it would be wise to identify everyone working on your project because if they are subcontracted by Master Texas Roofing and aren’t paid after the project is completed, they may file a lien. Identify and request a lien release/waiver before making final payment.
