In late 2009, Matt Tharpe, principal of Tharpe Construction, was project manager for Mydleton-Parker Construction (out of business in 2010 much to my chagrin ). We hired them to remodel our master bath to be handicap accessible while my husband was in the hospital. In late 2011 I noticed water marks on a white baseboard adjacent to the tiled shower were getting noticeably darker. I originally thought it was dampness from leaving the shower door open. Called Matt because I knew him personally - he brought in the original tile contractor, original plumber and original glass door installer for what was termed a minor water leak. I paid fees to all of these folks including Matt! Of course, no one wanted to own up to fault for the leak. In late 2015, I again noticed discoloration appearing on the white baseboards adjacent to the shower. This time the leaking actually extended to the closet backing up to the shower. I am having to totally tear out the shower because of a leaking pan that I have been told by 2 different construction contractors and plumbers that the leaking has been going on for years - whether from poor design or poor construction supervision. Not only is this an expensive repair, but the inconvenience especially for a handicapped individual in the house where there are no other accessible showers/toilets. Seeing as Matt Tharpe was in charge of this job - not once, but twice!!! It is very telling! While I realize no contractors offer unlimited warranties, it is pretty pathetic to have to have a 6 year old shower totally gutted when it was in the footprint of the original bathroom shower that did not leak ever from 1984 to 2009!
