The owner of this business: Scot Wocicki is the most unprofessional contractor I have ever met. He seems quite nice and reasonable when you are negotiating the arrangements, however once he commences work he becomes a very different person. We hired Scot to do a simple very small bathroom remodel which he started when we were out of town. When we returned home at 1am we found the house covered in a layer of dust, wood chips and metal bits covered our deck, and we found a dent in our new Kitchen floors. Without laying a tarp down he sawed, soldered and sanded on our deck causing all the debris to fall to the downstairs neighbors deck which he made no attempt to clean up. He left melted metal on our deck. He left construction tools, equipment and materials everywhere in our small apartment making it impossible to still live there while he did this small bathroom project. It took us an hour and half to clean up his mess before we could let our dog back in the house and we could go to bed.. We have a large garage that easily could have been used to store anything and everything he wanted without interfering in our normal day to day life but he made no attempt to use it. When I asked him if he could contain his work to the area involved and hang some plastic sheeting to keep the dust level down, he went ballistic on me. He swore at me ("I don't XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXing have to listen to you"), he verbally insulted me with bizarre statements like " You don't pay a penny on the bills in this house", and " You contribute nothing to this household". Since he doesn't know anything about me the only conclusions I can draw are that he went through our stuff while we were gone and came up with some fantasy in his head about me or he is a little bit off and is spouting irrational nonsense; either way not a good sign or the mark of a professional. Once we fired him and removed him from the premises, he also told me I needed to get some friends and that I should come out of the closet. Scot Wocicki created a hostile work environment that made it impossible to work with him. Of course after he was fired, he then screwed us some more by over inflating his price of the work done and ripped us off for about 1,000 dollars. Believe me we were all too happy to pay it to get rid of him. Afterward we of course had to change our locks and incurred other extraneous expenses because of his over the top hostile aggressive behavior. Avoid this contractor at all costs, not a professional or a very nice person.

Whatever you do, DO NOT hire Scot Wocicki (The Ecovery Project) for any type of construction work unless you want a huge mess, sloppy work, a terrible attitude, and an unfinished job.
I hired Scot last year to remove and replace the foundations of my home and a back cottage. BIG MISTAKE. Halfway through the job, I discovered major problems with the work and when I brought them up, he refused to fix them and walked off the job. In doing so, he left piles of construction debris, for which I have had to pay to remove. I will also have to pay someone to fix all of Scot’s defective and not code-compliant work.
Scot has completely ignored my attempts to contact him to address these issues. He has also ignored attempts by the Contractor’s State License Board to contact him about this and is currently under investigation. He also lied to the agent at his Bond Company after I was forced to file a claim.
I’m not sure if Scot is just incompetent or willfully manipulative, but he has proven completely incapable of fulfilling any part of the contract that he himself drafted. In addition to promises that the job would be done in 60 days (we signed the contract in September 2015 - the job remains not even half done today), Scot said that he held general liability and workman’s compensation insurance. I have since found out he has neither.
There were numerous issues with Scot’s work and the manner with which it was performed. One example concerns the front stairs. He constructed and painted stairs that were too tall and not uniform - not to mention, not to code. Scot was extremely irate and unprofessional whenever I asked any questions and was aggressive and hostile to his rotating cast of workers...he could never seem to keep a consistent crew working with him.
However, the major issue that alerted me to Scot’s ineptitude was the height of the basement after he poured the new foundation. The plans and contract specified that there was to be an 8-foot ceiling height in the basement. After lifting my house ~15 feet in the air for several months (which I’ve since learned was totally unnecessary), constructing extremely sloppy framing, and pouring the foundation footings and basement slab (each of which provided opportunities for him to allow for an 8’ basement), the current ceiling height in the basement measures anywhere from 6’8 to 7’ (due to the extremely uneven floor slab he poured). When asked about this, Scot said “what does a foot matter?” and “I didn’t think about it.” Obviously, I was worried about what else he didn’t think about with respect to the rest of his work….and I was right to be worried….
In my efforts to finish the work on my home, I have discovered countless other problems and examples of poor workmanship. I have since discovered that he often used materials not specified in the plans, double or triple billed me for work that is still not complete, and failed to obtain permits or pay subcontractors for items that I paid for. Almost all of the work that Scot “completed” will have to be redone as it’s not to code and is just plain sloppy. Every contractor or independent inspector that has come to look at the work has literally cringed.
My home is still unlivable and Scot is still MIA. Unless you are in the market for an extreme and expensive disaster, DO NOT hire Scot Wocicki and the Ecovery Project.
