I really enjoyed my interaction with this company. They were on time and willing to work hard. They followed my instructions to the letter and even offered improvements on my ideas. They finished the entire job--7 trees trimmed-- in one day, saving me time and money. Iwill undoubtedly employ them again in the future.

Remove a big tree and its stump
    $1,100

I hired Tree Unlimited Pros, a.k.a. HMY Tree Service (they asked me to put this name on their paycheck) in July 2017. The job was to remove a single big 30-ft tree in our front yard and the stump so that we can plant something else in the place. A team of 7 people came. They finished cutting the tree in about 2 hours and grinded the stump for about 1 hour.

I observe that this company is not a professional tree service as they claim. The way they cut the tree down is very dangerous, unlike other tree professionals I have seen. They cut each long branch as a whole instead of cutting it in shorter pieces. Possibly they did it this way because their equipment is primitive (just one saw). As the consequence, one fallen branch barely passed our power line, and damaged one of our expensive decorative plants. Another fallen branch broke one branch on our neighbor tree. If they knocked down our power line that day, it would cost us a fortune to repair. Our front yard is big and open with only small plants and grass. If it is denser, they could cause more damage.

Several days later, after removing the saw dust, I discovered that half of the stump is still there, about 1-in above the ground. I needed them to grind the stump at least one foot below the ground. I called them several times, no one answered. I tried to text them a few times. They texted back once, saying they would come the following Monday to do it. Now it is over a month, no one came, no response.

Now I know I have hired a bad contractor. They got the paycheck, and disappeared. Lesson learned. This business rep/owner tried to come see me before other contractors and used sale tactics to win my contract. That guy pushed me to do the job fast by offering next day service. This is to prevent me from asking around to get more quotes. Their price is actually more expensive than some larger tree companies. They have to lease most of their equipment so the work can be delayed days if the required equipment is not available. They would not lease equipment just to complete the unfinished work, in our case the remaining of the stump.

My suggestion: Next time you hire a contractor, make sure to ask the contractor to provide a detailed job description and price in writing (not matter small or big job). Have the contractor signed it. Check the job outcome carefully. Do NOT pay them until you are completely satisfied with the work quality. Do not just go to Home Advisor to find contractors. Check out other sources and review each contractor carefully. This way, you save your hard earned money and avoid all the trouble dealing with bad contractors like this Tree Unlimited Pros.
