Owner
My husband and I hired this company (True North Custom Homes, owner Clete Aycox) to build our home in Dallas, TX. We broke ground on a lot we owned in January 2010. Eventually progress slowed until practically nothing was getting done. By February 2011, this builder abandoned the build. What we discovered: draws on the construction loan appear to have been misused, subcontractors were not paid, the Builder's Risk Insurance had been allowed to lapse several months prior, and shoddy work was conducted in areas seemingly only after passing code (passed code without work in an area then work was completed.) We were left with a house maybe 70% complete plus problems to fix and not enough money left on the construction loan to complete it. We were fortunate enough to find an excellent, reputable builder to finish our home. I would give True North Custom Homes zero stars if possible. I would not trust this owner or company to complete any projects or handle any funds legitimately. This owner was so dishonorable that I fully expect him to deny I was a customer when given an opportunity to verify that. However, I have the paperwork to prove it.
