My mother and aunt agreed to contract with Geoff without any description of materials to be used. When I visited the apartment three months later to choose new carpet and vinyl, I noticed that the doors, base boards and trim were painted with flat paint. Anyone familiar with paint finishes knows that semi-gloss is to be used on high abuse areas. He painted the bathrooms and kitchen with flat paint as well. When challenged on the one coat application of what turned out to be "eggshell", he agreed to re-paint with semi-gloss. He did not. He touched up base boards where there were marks from carpet installers with more eggshell paint. They would easily have been cleaned, had he used semi-gloss in the first place. He did not re-paint anything completely, except one door that had fingerprints due to the inappropriate flat finish. I found paint on light fixtures and wall color on the ceiling in one of the bathrooms. I believe that this man abides by the thought "you can't see it from my house", commonly spoken by construction workers. The man's wife is the housekeeping manager at the retirement community where the unit is owned by my grandmother. I believe that for this reason, he is recommended to owner/residents. His work is poor and his attitude even worse.
