Terrible experience. We hired Wilson's back in October/November 2019. John came out and gave us a bid. Throughout the process he and I discussed adding to the scope but did not write everything down (lesson learned.) John was always overly agreeable and ambitious to take on the extra work but he clearly was in over his head. He gave a low bid and then realized he wasn't going to be making money so he began saying he never agreed to certain things. This was a big job and John would give me a week of scheduled work but only work 1/2 days which continually pushed the job out. He asked for $2,000 a week for overhead costs, which I paid until the 4th week (roughly $6,400 at this point.) Then he fell a tree onto my house and blamed his worker (who he fired) and the wind, and ultimately me because he claimed I pressure him.
He asked for more money which I declined to provide until the job was done. This was 4 months into the job of our driveway being a disaster. When the main tree work was finally "completed" in February, John refused to cut our trees into rounds. I eventually gave all my wood away for free because I was tired of my yard looking like trash. On two occasions I sent him very specific photos of what was to be done and he did not complete them, and claimed he did the work.
He then refused to pay his deductible until I paid him the last bit of money. At this point he still hadn't finished the job but I needed the insurance company to pay the contractor so I called it a loss and paid them. Dealing with Lori, his partner, was a challenge because John clearly didn't communicate with her and she was very rude and confrontational.
I have tons of text messages and photos of this ordeal and am glad it is finally over ...
