By Jeff K.October 25, 2019Basement finish; replace flooring on main floor and upstairs$60,000Read more
I hired Eric to do a basement finish along with replacing my flooring on the main floor and upstairs of my home. I was told this job would take 2 to 3 months. After 18 months I still had minor issues not complete with my basement and a master bedroom closet with no flooring; waiting 6 months for him to finish after the old carpet had already been torn out by his team. At that point we decided to part ways after he stated that he really had no time to finish the job.
I just hired a new floor contractor to finish the install of the new flooring in the master closet and to do "quarter-round" of my baseboards. Once the new flooring contractor took a look at the current flooring job, he stated that ALL my new flooring would have to be torn out due to a very poor installation job (boards gaping, popping up, etc.) This is due to many of my hardwood floor boards now separating due to a lack of securing the boards properly to the sub-floor. The cost of redoing all the flooring on my main and upstairs floors (approx. 2,000 sq. ft.) will be at a minimum $15,000, which is for labor to tear out old flooring and to install new flooring plus cost of material. My wife and I now must choose an entire new style of flooring due to my existing flooring being discontinued by the manufacturer. Eric has promised for 2 weeks to make this right by filing an insurance claim citing a "faulty installation process" but my repeated phone calls go unanswered. I am now on the hook for at least $15,000 to make this right and now am contemplating legal action. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY - PERIOD!

By Ronald L.August 1, 2018Basement finish$25,000
My project with Wood and Clay started okay. Delays weren't horrible and quality was good.
It changed pretty drastically over the project however. In the end our hvac quality is subpar with little air movement for the basement. We rarely see anyone come and work and all that's left are finishing touches. Cost was quoted fairly, but the end price was much higher than expected. Few items were disclosed as adding much cost until right before final payment when all of a sudden an extra 5,000 price tag was added. The contractor and his team are good guys, so it was sad to see them fall so hard towards the end of the project. I would not hire again or recommend. Still waiting on final touches and my small basement project has been open for 6 months (quoted time was 2).
Summary: Quality is decent for most areas, Office work is poor, Time management extremely poor, and cost is slightly above average.

Terrible experience with this builder. We hired them for a remodel in October 2018 and it still isn't finished as of June 2020. The contractor repeatedly brought inexperienced workers into our home and much of the work has to be redone because it was done wrong. Flooring installed incorrectly with no underlayment, and sloppy cuts around doors and bathtubs, chipped tile, shoddy wiring with live wires left uncapped in the ceiling, temporary plumbing left in place so long it failed and flooded the basement. His crew also destroyed a family heirloom and he proceeded to do absolutely nothing about it. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.
