He is a pro at scamming people. This scumbag took $25,000 from my 84-year old mother. DO NOT USE THIS "BUILDER". We trusted him and he cheated us. He is probably headed to Houston to scam more trusting and unsuspecting people!

He is a liar and extortionist. He will ask for money to put down deposits and for material costs, but will never actually buy any materials. If you ask him for receipts, he will tell you that you are "insulting" him. He is a crook and a snake. DO NOT give him any of your money.

Please do not use this guy. He is a professional rip-off artist. He will ask for your money to buy materials and the job will not get done. He has been in court so many times it's ridiculous. He is why contractors have a bad reputation...he will burn you.

Operates under the names Billy Wayne Cranford, Zachary Taylor Homes, Zachary Taylor Homes and Construction Services, has a new DBA with Mikasa McKnight. Rips off the elderly (my parents are 82 and 83.) He has taken close to $40K of a $69K remodel contract effective July 12, 2017 with a 90 day completion, included remodel and addition. The addition has not even been started. To date April 1, 2018 approximately 1/4 of the work has been done. Invoices and receipts have been forged and falsified in order to obtain additional funds. Between December 21, 2017 when he took a $15,500 check from my parents him or his subs have been there 1-2 days. He cashes all checks in violation of the Texas Property Code 162, has no accounting records, and the subs on our property wither have not been paid at all or are still owed money. He continues to solicit additional business and falsified information to the Texas Attorney General Consumer Complaint Division. You might ask yourself why a person would operate in "cash" only? IRS, Child Support, Liens, Judgments, or just criminal behavior??? Unfortunately there are a lot of unethical builders and remodeling companies. And since laws are difficult to enforce and after you have been ripped off spending money on an attorney may not fit into your budget. Let me add there are a lot of EXCELLENT builders/remodeling companies and lawyers!
Advice from experience...
1.) Familiarize yourself with Texas Property Code 162-criminal penalties.
2.) Check the persons criminal record by county....Hays, Travis, Williamson, Llano, etc. (search all nearby counties)
3.) Search all surrounding county deed records for liens that have been placed on properties due to "non-payment" of subcontractors. (search by personal name and company name or names)
4.) Check Yelp and Buildzoom for what others have to say
5.) A very useful tool....Google Search...first name, last name and "mugshots"
6.) Another thought.....check for "assumed names" if they change names on a regular basis there is probably a reason.
