    Bathroom Repair and Remodel
    $6,000

Aaron Builders is a company I will never do business with again, and will make sure the people I am close with and the people I know never do business with them either. In general, I think some good people work there, but the quality of their work is so poor that there's no way it makes up for it.

We hired Aaron Builders to redo our bathroom after discovering some water issues behind the tile in the shower. The job was intended to take no more than a week - it ended up taking MONTHS and looked like it was done by an amateur who didn't care at all. To summarize the problems: Gaps in caulk, sloppy paint job, cracked mortar, sloppy tile job, uneven tiles, poor planning, and many more. I emailed Aaron Builders about all of these problems, so if you see a response from them indicating they were unaware or are absolved of any blame then don't believe it.

Communication was terrible. I had multiple points of contact, and frequent delays and issues with getting a hold of anyone. There were days where no one showed up, and times when it took forever to get an answer from the project manager(s).

Before the project was completed, I pointed out many things that I requested to get fixed, but the company had so many project managers, had terrible communications, and the workers they hired to get the job done did such a poor job that I got fed up and resigned myself to accepting a sub-par outcome. I'm not sure if the workers were stretched too thin and rushed through most of the job, or if they just didn't care about me as a customer, but here is a (non-exhaustive) list of things that are unprofessionally finished:

    1) Tile isn't level all the way down the walls. I was told the studs weren't level, but that wasn't a problem with the prior tile job.

    2) Grout lines are too thick in many spots, resulting in cracking grout. This is on top of them being inconsistently applied and sloppy in spots. The top grout line is over an inch thick (see #7).

    3) Caulk is inconsistent, roughly applied and some spots had gaps that needed to be repaired.

    4) The doors do not hang properly. I was told this was a result of the frame not being level, but the frame is definitely level after I requested them to fix it. After fixing it, they never installed the screws to affix the frame to the wall and left holes where the prior screws held the frame in an unlevel position.

    5) The tap does not line up with the hot and cold markings on the fixture. This is a very small detail, but one that's easily noticeable and highlights how little attention was paid. I requested this to be fixed but it was not.

    6) The baseboard trim was cut over a quarter inch too short, and to fix it they just caulked the gap. The caulk shrunk and the gap is very noticeable.

    7) The tile ends about an inch before the ceiling. That inch was also filled in with unsanded grout and is cracking. I was told the only fix is to put a piece of trim up, but that wasn't something we wanted to do so I ended up caulking over the cracks.

    8) The walls show significant imperfections that proper prep probably would have fixed before painting.

    9) Cleanup was sloppy and I had to spend some significant time redoing a lot of it. Three is still caulk on the window that I found after the fact and needed to clean up. I had to dispose of much of the debris myself after it was left in my garage, despite clean-up and disposal being part of the contract. This wasn't just a single trash bag, but the vanity and sink, the old shower doors, etc.

Do yourself a favor and go with someone else. It's possible the issues I point out above are fixed, but it's not worth the risk.

water damage due to broken underground pipe

I am very disappointed with the quality of the work that I received from Aaron Bldg. This was my very first insurance claim and I am so sorry that I ever encountered this company.
