    Bought a remodeled home
    140 days

    We bought a remodeled home from this builder. He was half way through the remodel when we made an offer based on what we believed would be a high end home with high end finishes that would be finished in May 2016. He allowed us to move in early because he promised it would be finished in May as we were waiting on the kitchen cabinets to be installed as the last piece of work before it was done. Well, May promises turned in to June promises, which turned into July and August promises before we decided enough was enough. We finally drew a line in the sand and said he needed to have everything finished by August 24th if he wanted to close and he agreed. Well, as usual, Al promised he'd have everything done and he failed again on the 24th even though he promised to be there that day to finish the remaining items on the punch list.

    On the day of the closing we decided we no longer wanted him in our house as the owner and closed anyway with a lengthy punch list that had to be completed with 21 days of closing. To no surprise, he was going to start the following week until I asked for insurance paperwork for his guys that were coming on to my property. He could not provide proof of insurance paperwork for two weeks until one of his other contractors agreed to cover them and provided the paperwork.

    In the final week, his guys did do some work, but failed to get everything done as promised, yet again. Rather than living up to our signed agreement at closing, he did not release the funds he owed for not completing the punch list. Instead, we have to go to court to show pictures of an unpainted powder room, jagged tile work in the kitchen along all edges, missing bathroom lights and a mirror sitting on the floor, a huge spot in the middle of our back deck where his guys painted the second coat around my grill. To his standards, he thinks that is a completed punch list. The attached photos show what this guy feels is reasonably finished and he has refused to pay the escrow money at closing for not finishing on time.

    Had we known back in April, what we know now, we would not have done business with this guy. We hope this forces people to get more references on this builder. I would be happy to share more details on our horrible experience with guy.
