  New Roof

  To start off with, I used to be a roofer, thirty-five years ago. When my own house needed a new roof, I asked around through all my friends in the trades, if they knew of any good reliable roofers that I could trust. My friend Larry is a welder for fifty plus years. He also has been a big Buy American guy his whole life. Well, Larry recommends to me that I call his friend Jose, the owner of ALJ home improvement inc. Larry knows that I am a perfectionist at everything I do and expect the same level of workmanship out of anyone Id pay to hire, or I'd just do it myself. I asked him if he has seen any of their work. He told me yes, he has recommended them to all of his close personal friends and that they even roofed his home in Saddle River N.J. I respect and trust his judgement, so I decided to give Jose a call. When we spoke, he was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He asked for my address and told me he would call me right back. Within two minutes he called me right back with an precise estimate. He used a roofing measurement app on Google Earth, to give me the exact quote. The price was fantastic, and he assured me it would be a professional job, that would be completed in one to two days. I asked him when they could start. His crew showed up on a Friday on time at 8am, by 9:42am they had the 24 square, old existing roof completely ripped off down to the wood. Shortly after that, the house was ice shielded and wrapped, and the men were already applying the new shingles. His foreman Carlos informed me that my chimney flashing was shot and needed additional attention and should be replaced. Two of his workers constantly cleaned up the grounds, to the point of it didn't even look like there was ever a mess, I sat outside watching them, and even lending them some of my old roofing tools to help them make their job easier. The entire3 crew worked in a highly professional manner and seemed well trained and organized. I have to admit I was impressed with Jose , Carlos, and the entire crew from ALJ. They would've finished the entire 24 square roof in one day, but due to the intricate chimney flashing that needed to be installed, didn't want to rush, and assured me they wanted me happy, leak free, and with a job done right. They returned again on time, Saturday morning, and were completely done by 1:30 pm. I'm telling you the roof looks great, and my property looks even cleaner now than it was before they were there. They made sure to clean my, along with both of my neighbors' houses properties to ensure that they got every last bit of debris. they even walked both mine and both neighbors' properties with their magnetic nail strip tool, so no one gets a flat tire from any left behind nail. Thanks to my friend Larry I gave ALJ my job and he was right; they did not disappoint and truly did exceed every bit of my perfectionistic expectations.   ALJ Home Improvement replaced my 30 year old roof. They quoted and honored a great price. They worked quickly and did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a roofing expert in Bergen County.
