I only just came across this site, and don't even know if my review will appear. But I have to agree with Linda S. Personally, Mike was one of the nicest guys I knew. Friendly, easy to like, I knew him personally before I hired him to first design, then build, an addition to my home in 2004. 20 years later and I'm still finding and fixing things done wrong and living with things that can't even be fixed. Mike was a great guy, but he was a hands off GC who did none of the work himself and only visited the work site, and the subcontractors he hired and didn't supervise, virtually every one of them, was poorly skilled and took no pride in craftsmanship. I hope he's improved, but when I hired him I learned the hard way it was a "build it as cheaply as you can" operation with poorly skilled labor.

    Kitchen and bathroom remodeling.
    $300,000

This project went south from the start. Mike's words not mine. Asked him when it was finally over, if he would rehire him for the next project and his answer was a definite no! My husband and I repaid for plumbing that was done incorrectly when the job was finished, but we never contacted Mike about the incompetent work and extra cost. Although Mike would come for a short while almost every day, my husband had to do most of the supervision on the job.
Some of the men were careless and could care less. His so-called man in charge named Tim was obnoxious and quit before the job was completed because he and Mike didn't get along and he perhaps, wanted higher pay.
There was even a fistfight in my basement between two workers. Just recently, I discovered that asbestos pipes that his plumber cut into were never resealed. When I was recently told about the exposed asbestos, I had to pay almost $3,000 to remedy the situation. My husband and I simply never noticed. This was not from a new job! If he inspected the job as he said, then why were the asbestos pipes cut into exposed and yet no other untouched pipes had asbestos unraveling. I finally filed with Consumer Affairs, telling what honestly happened. Mike responded with inaccuracies or lies and personally attacked my character. I thought there was a slight chance he might do the right thing, but I certainly didn't expect such a dishonest, personal attack. Overall, I thought he was a nice guy. I don't lie and we never exposed on the internet what went on in my house during these renovations. Mike was always personable and we had like him, but his work ethic was not what we had hoped for. I really didn't want to go through this process with Consumer Affairs, but I just couldn't let this last thing go, regardless of the fact that this was many years ago. I am a widow now and don't need this aggravation, but I feel that although he may have done good work on other jobs, my job was beyond disappointing and it should be noted.
