  Looks like my project is moving that direction also. He started well for few days, but only to the point of first payment (beyond the initial deposit). Have not heard from him since. He left a mess behind. We checked a reference he had provided but obviously a scam.

  I am the latest victim of this straight-up con-man/criminal. Going under the mistaken notion that he had been recommended by my neighbors, I was absolutely duped as well by an initial three weeks of very hard work by his two-man crew. Impressed with the early results, I committed to further projects on my property, then foolishly paid him up front for supplies. I was sold a bogus story that the materials arrived stained and damaged and had to be replaced, which would delay the project. His crew demo-ed my existing deck, turned my yard into a rubble-filled disaster, and then simply disappeared forever. My own stupidity - coupled with his well-cultivated techniques resulted in a tremendous loss of money for me.

  Al Rodriguez and AV general contractor is a scam. He took our money, promising to do more work if we paid ahead. After working hard for 3 weeks, he disappears and the work falls apart. Beware of him or any of his family members with whom he could work.

  foundation and stone work

  I am in the midst of dealing with him right now. He was contracted to do foundation and stone work in mid March for a 2 week job and it has now turned into 3 months. I wish I had seen the above review earlier because he did the same to me. Took money, worked hard with his people for a week demoing my house, then left it in a shambles and has promised to return week after week. I have been more than patient, but there comes a point when it starts being ludicrous with the lies and promises.

  This contractor is a complete fraud. His license has recently been renewed by the CLS board despite having 3 active complaints and pending litigation against him. He started at least 2 projects in the Bay Area, collected 90% of money for project and never showed up again. When project stalled after collection of money, he uses stall tactics of waiting for material to arrive (which were never ordered), workers being ill, etc. He starts a project at good speed to get you believing in him then abandon project. Be forewarned, unfortunately the licensing board has not been a protective source for consumers. Despite complaints over 3 months ago, complaints remained un-posted on the board.
