Hiring this contractor was the BIGGEST mistake of 2022! He was recommended to us by our real estate agent. We got an old landmark property & we needed to update it. We're clueless in construction & of course we were concerned about costs BUT from day 1 we communicated that whatever needs to be replaced has to be replaced & updated in full.
He never gave us options & was willing to keep dilapidated infrastructure so he can be done quicker. He was closing up walls without installing wood framing or insulation. He was constantly asking for payment up front. After 2/3rds of the contract was paid for we confronted him on the quality & amount of work he had done. It was plainly clear that the quality was not only terrible but also dangerous. Also, he had not even completed 10% of the work. The "work" he did complete now has to be re-done by someone else. I can't
fathom what problems we would have encountered further down the line if we had allowed him to continue working on the home. As per him, everything was always ok and not yet fully complete, and that is why things looked how they did. I don't know how he has a license. As we found out he kept working on the property even after his permits had expired. If I could give him zero stars I would.
