I contacted Centsible House for a residential energy assessment through the NYSERDA's program (that provides free energy consultations to homeowners looking to decrease their energy use) after we bought a place in the neighborhood but were shocked by our high ConEd bills. I spoke to Julie on the phone. She was initially sort of friendly, but quickly grew impatient. She was incorrect on a number of assertions about what type of appliances and energy sources we had--despite my telling her exactly what we had (for example, she repeatedly insisted that we it was "impossible" that we had gas heat, despite that I was looking directly at our unit). When we had a follow-up conversation months later where I described all the efforts I had made to diagnose our high energy bills, she again grew impatient, finally stating: "you don't have an energy problem. You just don't like your bills." She then hung up on me. We never spoke again, but not long after this I discovered that we had a defective hot water heater, fixed the problem myself, and our ConEd bills plummeted. So, Julie was wrong again, and all the while, was rude, indifferent, and frankly, not very good at her job. NOT recommended that the state renew their contract with Centsible House.
