    Restaurant repair and renovation, and outdoor dining structure

    I met Pater, and City Code Construction when they were renovating an apartment in the building where we lived, and I was the President of the CoOp Board. The apartment owner was really pleased with their work, and I took their details as I was impressed with how smoothly they had dealt with permitting, as well as being conscious of operating within the building bylaws.
    City Code Construction renovated our restaurant when we were closed at the beginning of the COVID lockdown in May of 2020. They managed to take care of all of the repairs and improvements within a tight schedule and a tight budget. We were so impressed with how well they had dealt with our limited time and budget, being able to handle basic construction, as well as electrical and plumbing work, so they were who we called when we had to build an outdoor dining structure by DOT and DOB specifications.
    True to form, City Code Construction, and Peter’s crew, managed to build a whole new structure outside really quickly, which met the specs dictated by the city, and it meant we were able to reopen and stay in business. Several other restaurants in the neighborhood had tried to build their structures, and didn’t pass inspection. They came to me and asked who had done our structure. I introduced them to City Code Construction, and many of them had structures built that made it so that they could reopen. When other restaurants were closed or fined, all of the structures built by City Code passed. A number of them have since engaged City Code to do broader work on their restaurants, and everyone who I introduced to City Code has since thanked me for the introduction to an ongoing business relationship.

    Gut renovation.

    Great company to work with. They made the job very easy for me. I had no idea what I was getting into. They really took charge and got the job done in an efficient manner. We did a new kitchen and closets. They did all the cabinetry in there own shop. Everything fit perfectly . I was so worried because it was an old building that it would be difficult.

    Pete has always been a stand up guy who helped me out in a lot of pinches. As a property manager I have had him renovate apartments and I have referred him as well. From basic jobs like drywall and painting, to apartment renovations on up to roofing and exterior work, he has done it all for me. Even disaster recovery, I am sorry to say. When you work with contractors as much as I do, you know that there is no such thing as a perfect job; underlying conditions pop up, ownership decisions change, things break, and sometimes things just don't turn out right. What I love about Peter is that he always works with me and the job gets done. Another thing that I appreciate: he finishes out the punch list - no waiting for months to get that caulking done. In construction there are a lot of moving parts, and there is responsibility on the part of ownership and management as well as the general contractor to make the job go smoothly. With City Code I know that the GC end is taken care of.

    I can honestly say that working with Peter and his team was wonderful. After our brownstone suffered severe fire damage we contracted Peter and city code construction to do the rebuild. As you could imagine its was an extremely emotional endeavor having lost a lot of family heirlooms and being temporarily displaced. Through the entire process Peter and his team operated with honesty and integrity. They finished the rebuild a bit sooner than expected and we were absolutely ecstatic with the finished result. I would certainly and have already recommended Peter and city code construction to numerous friends and businesses associates.

    Pete and his team are experiences, direct, honest and they do excellent work. They can negotiate the difficult aspects of working with city codes as well as the specific aesthetics of any job. I would recommend them to anyone working on any size project.

    My experience with City Code Construction was entirely unbelievable. Pete was great, a staight shooter and a man of his word. His foremen were always there to make sure everything and everyone was performing at 110%. I was in a tough situation and had to sell my apartment after my mom died there. It hadn't been woked on in years, building wiring was from the 1940, windows were from the 1950's. It was really challenging. Not only Did City Code assist in informal financing (Pete purchased materials I could not), Pete used his skills from his past career in trading on Wall street to show me how to max my return on the sale, an additional 14.6%! When I tried to give him a bonus, he asked me to just remember our experience and try to practice it on my dealings with others.
