    Bathroom remodel
    $30,000

    Darrell has been incredibly easy to work with. I saw the other review on this site and cannot believe one word of it. His pace of work had been incredible…. Our project finished ahead of schedule. That’s unheard of. His team and subs are so friendly and attention detailed. I’m very impressed with his work and there are no mistakes.

    Full Remodel

    Pros:
    - Really nice guy almost grandfatherly
    - Has good intentions
    - Well connected and can pull in favors if needed

    Cons
    - Very poor communicator and doesn't set expectations to dates or cost
    - Good intentions poor execution with constant re-work
    - Doesn't validate assumptions again leading to re-work
    - Doesn't hold his subs accountable to poor execution
    - "I've been doing this for 30 years" was a common response when challenged on poor execution.

    Examples
    - Neither of our stair landings are level which has almost caused us to trip several times
    - His flooring contractor left a giant swirl mark in our living room which is so bad we had to buy a rug to cover it
    - None of the walls in the basement are straight
    - Claimed to have cleaned the fireplace when in fact it had never been cleaned, never-mind that almost all of the internals needed to be replaced
    - His subs left trash everywhere
    - Never tested new network drops and one is broken and may not be able to be re-run
    - Left holes in our walls from electrical work with no plan to close them
    - We have voltage issues in our living room
    - Didn't vent the kitchen sink. Yup. Not that it wasn't done right.. just didn't do it at all.
    - Installed an oven in the basement that has no venting, hope you like your smoke detectors going off. Good thing we are removing it
    - Counters upstairs were not glued down and not straight.
    - The flooring in the basement has very large putty fills everywhere, which isn't too bad except that none of the putty matches
    - Wall texture looks like someone sneezed... I am pretty sure anyone who can use a can of spray paint could get a more consistent texture.

    TL;DR
    Use pretty much anyone else unless you want be paying his commission on top of managing all the contractors he brings in yourself. I feel like this guy used to be a great builder who's become complacent and lazy in his older years. It is a shame. I want to recommend him but his execution is garbage.
