Misrepresented himself as a custom home builder. I'm sure he's fine with building decks, installing molding or other small projects, but he definitely has no business trying to build a home. My husband, who's a retired Air Force pilot with ZERO construction experience had to take over in managing the project because Joe Montalvo was incompetent and unorganized. He took a lot of vacations and days off, and when he did occasionally show up it was mid-morning, then he'd turn around and leave early (3-ish). We had to continue paying him in order to pass final inspection in order to move into our house. Joe told us our home would be built in 6 months - it took 1 year and 6 months - and we were forced to pay him the entire time
