Absolutely not. The original quote for basically a 15ft x 38ft gazebo that's free standing (not tied into the roof) was $44,000. The cost ended up being over $80,000. It has 7 heavy duty posts, and a metal roof.
Their business plan of leaving 6 crew members to fend for themselves, after 15 minutes of instruction from Tim, doesn't work. We ended up having guys standing around, spending time at their trucks etc. Way too many young, inexperienced guys. Of course we were charged for all the hours they were here.
Plywood was placed on the ceiling, as Tim said that paint would hide the plywood. It doesn't. So, we have a really expensive gazebo with a lovely plywood ceiling. He should have known better, and used Hardie board, and then covered the seams. Some of the seams are covered, and some are not, as the plan was to have a "beam" look. I didn't realize that that meant lots of seams would show.
The structure was built a little over a year ago. We had water on a good portion of he deck throughout rainy season, and water dripping down in the center of the deck. Apparently a metal end cap was appropriately placed at one end of the root, but not at the other end. Axis roofing pointed this out, as we had the main house re-roofed.
Tim said that of course this would be dealt with, which was great. I questioned whether we would be charged for this, since the end cap was not appropriately put on. I was assured no. We were billed $850 for this. I obviously called Tim, and was laughed at, and he did say, "Ok, we won't bill you for this".
HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK!! This is not a competent or ethical construction company.
