HOMEOWNERS BEWARE!! I HAD TO FIRE VINNY , OWNER OF EDWARDS/RYAN CONSTRUCTION ON 8/4/23. The 3 workers he had working on my deck walked out on him today!
So this doesn't come across as some unsubstantiated complaint, I fired Vinny today after many warnings and issues. He will embellish his experience, how big his company is and glorify how many multi-million projects he has. See specific issues below for reasons we had to terminate the project. I tried to research him before hiring unfortunately nothing showed online so I'm making sure that this doesn't happen again to anyone.
UNPROFESSIONAL
Argued with me repeatedly over the course of 1 month and even hung up on me twice. Lied many times (details below)
Repeatedly talked down to me and assumed I didn't know anything about construction and made up lies to try to prove his point.
VERY POOR PLANNER
Dumpster was coordinated for the first two weeks, when there's little garbage. Got picked up and now I'm left with a lot of garbage on my driveway without a dumpster.
Only 1 person came at a time during the first 3 wks, 1 to 2 days only each week when he promised 4 people.
When I eventually saw 3 people total and still only came two at a time the 3rd week and finally all 3 started showing up the 4th week, for a project that was supposed to be finished in 2 wks. According to his people, he hired two of them just the 3 rd week into the project, which tells me he didn't have 50-60 people he claimed to have and multi-million dollar projects. Hounded me for payment because he needs to make payroll when stages of the job is still not completed.
VERY POOR COMMUNICATION
Not just to me but to his people, who didn't know when they'd show up by themself and can't do anything about it. His poor communication led to me placing special orders last minute and delaying project further.
Told me and his people there are other workers coming in but they each ended up working by themselves (1 person) for the first 3 wks.
Wouldn't notify me when no one is coming, had to text or call him many times to find out if anyone is coming.
VERY POOR QUALITY AND CRAFTMANSHIP
Staining is patchy. Not double coated and stained unevenly.
Significant gaps in cladding and unevenness. Butted up joints that will create bowing later when it expands and contract.
Did not add an entrance to the cladding to access under the deck.
Overused wiring and created additional cost to me.
Used an indoor TRIM FINISHING NAIL GUN to mount heavy composite cladding and risers when it should have been stainless steel screws. Ruined my expensive composite materials! Per his people he did not want to buy screws and needs it done right away. Uneven steps. Had to relocate steel posts several times because it was measured wrong, BY HIM!!
ADDITIONAL ISSUES
Job started July 10th and it is now August 4th, 9 rails still have to be installed and cladding have to be removed and redone! Staining needs second coat and finishes in between boards. In the period of 1 month, he personally showed up 5 times TOTAL for the first 1-2 hrs of the day (if we're lucky) and then left and never returned.
I had to manage his people on what needed to be done and how to do things right, when it's his job to be here to supervise and instruct them.
I had to teach his crew how to do basic landscaping wiring.
He had his team cut boards on my deck causing a lot of debris into my Koi pond, next to it creating hazard to my fish. This should have been done on the driveway like a normal contractor. Left a lot of garbage and debris on my property
I gave him notification on July 26, 2023 that if he doesnt complete the job by Friday, July 28th the job is terminated. Today is August 4th! 2 wks past the original finish date and job is still not finished and many of the work needs to be redone. Don't fall for his lies. It is hard to find anything on him online, no website, no real profiles of his business easily accessible.
