Beware of this building contractor!!!
As written in numerous other reviews, I believe Hurlburt Builders and its owner Randy Hurlburt should not be considered for any of your housing construction or rehab needs. If you value honesty, quality and a reasonable resolution of issues that arise during a project, this is someone to avoid. This contractor will present a low bid and make many false claims but instead of saving you money, will lead to major headaches and a poorly done building project.
As a low-income senior, I mistakenly hired Hurlburt Builders for a major home rehabilitation job. Almost immediately I ran into many problems and stopped the work before it was completed. It ended with an arbitration hearing conducted by the Massachusetts Department of Consumer Affairs. There are too many issues to list but focused on breach of contract; unacceptable contractor performance and conduct; failure to follow industry standards resulting in building and electrical code violations and making misrepresentations thus violating the Consumer Protection Law.
I was awarded a settlement. Mr. Hurlburt's bluster and hubris could not hide evidence of his poor workmanship or his use of substandard practices and the subsequent damage done to my property.
In my opinion, this is not a building contractor you can trust. I am writing this review because I hope other homeowners will heed the caution suggested here before considering hiring Hurlburt Builders. Protect yourself from bullying, unethical behavior and a botched construction venture.

Our experience with this builder was awful. Too many issues to get into but you can look at my more detailed review on Angie's list or porch.com. Ultimately this contractor did not finish the project and left us with many problems. We found out on our own that his CSL was suspended due to violating building codes which he did on our home as well. Every day was a battle and took the joy out of building our dream home. The work was substandard and not up to our expectations. The entire process was unprofessional.

I had Hurlburt builders build me a house summer of 2023. With the guidance of Randy in the areas unknown to the average person we ended up with a real nice place. He was able to stay within budget on the original price except for change orders we made . Any small issues that I have had they have been right here to correct. Very satisfied
