I bought a refrigerator at Idler's in 2012 and later purchased an extended warranty. My ice maker broke and I called Idlers's for a warranty repair. I talked to Ruth who set up a repair appointment. I chose the morning 4 hour window (8-12). As I always do to eliminate scheduling errors, I repeated the date, day, and time frame back to her and she concurred. When the repair day arrived I waited for 4+ hours and no one showed up. I called the next day. Ruth indicated they had no record of an appointment for my repair. I'm guessing Ruth was multitasking when I talked to her and my information must have been written on a scrap of paper and then lost. It certainly wasn't written or typed into the repair calendar or repair order form book.
What bothers me is that the extended warranty cost was fully paid for a long time ago. I think they think of extended warranty repairs as out-of-pocket expenses for parts and labor because the warranty money was probably used for something else by Idler's long ago.
The Central Coast has too many competitive stores to choose from to put up with no shows. Four plus hours out of my life on a day I had several errands to run . Sorry Idler's, I won't spend another 4 hours wondering if you'll show up for a second repair appointment. Also, the norm is not 4 hours any more. Competition is stiff and other stores realize they need to treat people as "valued" customers. They will call customers the morning of the appointment to narrow the waiting window down to one or two hours.
