If I could give negative stars I would. This company is deplorable.
I have seriously lost sleep, hair, gained wrinkles, etc due to the dealings I have had with IDC. NOTHING has been done on time or correctly on the first try.
Let me start by saying I have been talking to IDC about my kitchen reno since the summer of 2014. They seemed great. Pete was easy to talk to, told us what we wanted to hear. Cori was pleasant and seemed to know what she was doing (I designed the whole kitchen before going there so I didn't really need her services).
We finalized everything in October of 2014. They started the first week in November and Pete stated my kitchen was supposed to be done by Thanksgiving (I didn't believe him and told him as much) he assured me it would. It wasn't. The next deadline was Christmas. Missed that one too! Then New Years. Nope, still not done. Valentines day? Nope! To this day I am still waiting for them to finish (figures crossed it will be done by Easter as we're having all of our family coming over!).
We are at 4 months for a simple/small kitchen remodel. Mind you we did not have A SINGLE change order with our kitchen. Not ONE. Once they missed their deadline they moved on to the next project to get more money. We were left with a half done kitchen for months. They promised people would show up and then they didn't. I don't think we EVER had a full week were people were working on our house. It was always a day here, a day there; basically whenever they could be spared from doing another job they came and worked on our house.
Main issues-
1- Inability to show up on time (or at all)
2- MESSY!!! We lived in our house through the reno and expected a mess but I did not expect to walk on full shards of wood, drywall, piles of sawdust, NAILS. Nor have our backyard become a dumping ground for their lunch trash, cigarettes, leftover materials, and broken parts. ADDITIONALLY, we had just re landscaped our side yard (DG and raised planter beds) and they managed to get pieces of cement and stucco EVERYWHERE!!!
3- Folding up their end of the contract. The contract specifically says everything will be done to code. Our kitchen electrical was NOT done to code (even though we had already upgraded our electrical panel knowing this would be needed PRIOR to the reno). When we approached Pete with this issue (as the fridge tripped the overhead lights and we had no power multiple times) he said it was not their responsibility to update the electrical since they were not supposed to install the appliances. WTF?!?!? It's not Pacific Sale's installers responsibility to update the electrical!!!!
4- Lack of oversight/organization. We had the following things done incorrectly and redone- Raising and framing the ceiling (they had it too low and had to raise it), the pantry wall (it was not built straight), moving the window (they had it in the wrong place), the cabinets (they did not build them to the plans and I am still waiting for my missing drawer)... Additionally there was no one in charge of our project. I was the only one following up with the workers, communicating with Pete, Cory, and Jasmine (when Pete would get back to me). Honestly, if wasn't hounding them EVERYDAY I think we'd be much farther behind. But seriously, how can you have multiple projects going on without a project manager?!?!?
5- COMMUNICATION!!! I cannot tell you the amount of time I've spent trying to track people down. Pete will straight up ignore you and if he doesn't he'll promise you things and NOT relay the information to the people who actually have to do the work. So 2 days later you're still waiting for what Pete promised only to find out he never instructed anyone to do it.
6- SHADY!
TO CLIENTS- I was asked for money multiple times before they finished what they were supposed to finish. In fact, they'd get just enough done to justify the next payment installment but they wouldn't finish up the details. On one occasion Pete said the cabinets were ready and wanted to deliver them so we would pay him but they hadn't finished the drywall, painted the walls, painted the ceiling, or INSTALLED the cabinets. He simply wanted to drop them up (making it impossible for us to use our family room) so he could get more money out of us.
TO EMPLOYEES- multiple people that worked on our kitchen were not paid on time and still have not been paid to this day!
Also, we never saw or met anyone who had a contracting license (though we did look up the license number provided on their info and I will be filing a complaint against their license).
I could go on telling you all the issues I've had but I do not have enough time in the day. I just want to warn anyone else who is thinking of choosing this company- DON'T! Spend a little more money and go with an actual contractor. One who knows how to follow through on their commitments and knows how to keep their word.
