BEWARE! DO NOT hire Joseph Glaeser, aka JMG Builders. Joe is a CONMAN, a LIAR, and a THIEF. We hired Joe to do a complete renovation of our bathroom on April 25, 2019. He sent a couple guys to demo our bathroom the following week and then proceeded to give us the runaround for 3 months before finally vanishing with $11,500 of our money and leaving us with a gutted bathroom.
He has a good sales pitch and sounds knowledgeable and professional during the bidding process, but don't be fooled. He is a crook. He kept stringing us along by giving us all sorts of excuses and sending random subcontractors whom he found on the internet to do minor work here and there just to keep us on the hook, but he never pulled a single permit and failed to complete any substantial work beyond the demolition. After three months, he ultimately stopped returning my calls and messages and disappeared without refunding our money.
When we contacted his insurance bond provider to recoup our losses, we were told his coverage had been exhausted from numerous other claims and that we were the EIGHTH consumer to file a claim with his insurance this year. We later found out he had defrauded one of our neighbors as well.
We are currently filing a complaint with the California State Licensing Board to have his license revoked and will be pursuing criminal charges against him for fraud so that he does not continue to victimize innocent homeowners.
